Well it is usually in the BWCA, but two or three good eater Lakers, half in Fry Magic, half on foil w/ butter/oil, and various seasonings. Some beans, potatoes, and a favorite with our group is to make our own onion rings, just throw some in with the fish batter, shake and fry with the fish. A great seasoning is the Montreal chicken salt to add a little zip to them.

It's not your typical shore lunch but the last few years my buddies and I have brought the grill with on opening day of duck hunting. We hunt in wisconsin so hours start at noon and we try to get set up a few minutes early and get the grill going. Usually we have brats and itilian sausage. There's nothing like waiting for birds and having a nice hot lunch in your belly. I was only caught out of the blind once when a flock of teal came in.

My second favorite is in Canada on a lake in the middle of nowere, agian it was brats because we hadn't caught any splake yet. There was no one around and the scenery was beautiful.

The ones that stick out in my mind are when we float down the St Louie and just pull off and fry up Walleye that were swimming 5 minutes before. Fried spuds and onions, pan fried fish and corn on the cob cooked in the coals. Of course that means we can catch a few more fish as we continue the drift down river. Ever notice that when you cook outdoors a little burnt adds flavor! But it creates problems at the supper table at home shocked.gif

I have a Weboost cellular amplifier at Wakemup Bay. It increases the signal from 1 bar or less to 3-4 bars BUT there is more to the story than bars. For data (like streaming video) I get faster data speeds WITHOUT using my booster. The reason as I understand it is that cellular data transmits and receives on multiple channels simultaneously (its called Multi-In-Multi-Out or MIMO.) Most boosters only amplify a single channel at a time. While the phone shows a good signal from the booster it can actually reduce the data speeds that are available with MIMO transmissions. A booster can improve your voice communications while diminishing your data speeds. You might want to look at the Mobile Internet Resource Center on YouTube for a better explanation.

57 in Black Bay and 44 in Niles Bay today.  The lake is changing by the day and the fishing reflects it.

So sorry, wish I could boat over to help. I think we will wait an extra week to head north.  Prayers for a good resolution.

Good morning Mtnman. Yes, the whole rainy lake watershed is under a flood warning. Water is as high as it was back in 2014. Forecast is that is should peak around May 20. All the ice went out last week with all the wind and rain we had. My dock didn’t make it though. Ice blew in and lift the whole thing, crib and all. Mother Nature…adds another project once the water is warm enough to work in. This week looks a little drier…I hope! Safe travels when you do head North.

The water was over 22 at the very south end of Mud and the overflow pond. I took that route to get to the cabin, I just moved the signs and drove through, saw a couple carp sunbathing on the warm road. 😂
