new way to manage fish?

Recommended Posts

was thinking the other day aboot ways to help fish populations statewide. Had a thought, it may be way off base, but i thought i would throw it out here to see what everyone thought. how aboot doing fish limits as a total length per person per day. Lets say you are allowed 50" of walleyes in a day, then you would be allowed to keep two 16" fish and an 18" fish, or a 20" fish and two 15 inchers. or lets say you can keep 100" of crappies a day, you could keep 10 10" fish or aboot 7 14" fish a day. what do you guys think of this idea?

Technically the science sounds good, but as a practical matter it's too complicated. Then, when the CO busts someone for having too many fillets in the freezer, how would you apply the law under your system?

It's a good idea, but how but 65 inches or 4 fish, which ever is less. That way you could keep 4 16 inch walleyes eat or 3 20 inchers, same with all limits, say 100 inches or 10 crappies, whichever is less.

Sounds like a great idea, BUT there are people out there that either dont know how to add or say they dont when they get busted.

Good idea, but couldn't you just imagine enforcing that?! Also, it wouldn't be a very good way at managing big fish.
