Lake Trout

Hey can anybody give me some tips on Snow banks Lake Trout such as what to use for bait and anything else that will make a first time trout fisherman have success

Well I don't know about a success, but I can give you some pointers if you'd like.

First off, I would check in at Smitty's on Snowbank for the latest report before just driving out and going in there blind so to speak.

I would suggest using airplane jigs, or using just cisco's to fish with. Smitty's usually has a road plowed out to some of there fish houses which they rent. If you're into that, I would look into renting of there houses. I believe they are fairly cheap.

I haven't fished those fun lakers too many times, but have caught them when I've gone. My most productive method was a large silver jigging spoon (I really like the one with the green lightning bolt on it) with a shinner head or tail. Pump that thing pretty good, raising it a good 2-3 feet every couple minutes. Then just jig it like you're going for walleye with good 10 second pauses (the hits almost always came on the pause for me). Sometimes the takes will be a very minimal tick-tick, or they'll darn near rip the rod outtuv your hand. Regardless, set into them with all you've got & get ready for an incredible battle!

The other tool that I found to be just crucial was a vexilar. You're usually fishing in pretty deep water, and alot of times the fish would be suspended at a variety of depths.
