I rank them in the following order

1 - Creek chubs

2 - Bull heads

3 - Suckers

I rank them this way for two reasons. 1 - done better with chubs than bullies or suckers (although in their horned head period-spawning- i stay away from them and will use bullies as my primary and suckers as secondary) and I usually do better with bullies than suckers.

Second reason - Any predator fish can feel sound waves and the shorter the wavelength, i.e. a WA-WA--wa vs. wwoooo----wwwooo smile.gif can be felt easier and from furhter distances. When you sort the bait I listed above by wavelength, shorter wave length on top, the ranking comes out to be the same rank as I have from sucess rates.

Now, bullies are probably the hardiest things out there, so if you don't have a great bait-keeping set up to keep chubs at their best, bullies are probably the way to go.

korn,

WA-WA vs wooo-wooo???

Are we talking cats or hits from the 50's?

You HAVE to explain that a little further.

How can you tell the difference in each bait fish's vibrations? Are you using aquasonics?

Any way, besides the vibration wave length of each type of bait, I would have to agree with kornfish.

I do however use more bullheads than I do creek chubs. Only because I prefer creek chubs in the +8" range and they some how have gotten difficult to get!

A good wild sucker that you catch yourself is also a high ranking bait.

Store bought suckers will do the trick, but if your fishing next to a person with fresh wild bait, he's getting hit first almost every time!

I have a Weboost cellular amplifier at Wakemup Bay. It increases the signal from 1 bar or less to 3-4 bars BUT there is more to the story than bars. For data (like streaming video) I get faster data speeds WITHOUT using my booster. The reason as I understand it is that cellular data transmits and receives on multiple channels simultaneously (its called Multi-In-Multi-Out or MIMO.) Most boosters only amplify a single channel at a time. While the phone shows a good signal from the booster it can actually reduce the data speeds that are available with MIMO transmissions. A booster can improve your voice communications while diminishing your data speeds. You might want to look at the Mobile Internet Resource Center on YouTube for a better explanation.

57 in Black Bay and 44 in Niles Bay today.  The lake is changing by the day and the fishing reflects it.

So sorry, wish I could boat over to help. I think we will wait an extra week to head north.  Prayers for a good resolution.

Good morning Mtnman. Yes, the whole rainy lake watershed is under a flood warning. Water is as high as it was back in 2014. Forecast is that is should peak around May 20. All the ice went out last week with all the wind and rain we had. My dock didn’t make it though. Ice blew in and lift the whole thing, crib and all. Mother Nature…adds another project once the water is warm enough to work in. This week looks a little drier…I hope! Safe travels when you do head North.

The water was over 22 at the very south end of Mud and the overflow pond. I took that route to get to the cabin, I just moved the signs and drove through, saw a couple carp sunbathing on the warm road. 😂
