Morels and Asparagus

Recommended Posts

Anthony

My Father-in-law found morels way up here on the Canadian border this past weekend, just getting started.

I have picked wild Asparagus twice now as well.

Another week and it should really start popping up here.

I was wandering looking for sheds and morels and stumbled on a nest with nine mallard eggs in it. Momma scared me good launching out of that nest when I was walking nearby. I wandered off to a distance and she returned right away. Hope the skunks don't find that nest!

I never found any wild asparagus. The best asparagus I know of comes from the farmers market in Minneapolis by 55 and 94. There is a farmer from Cold Spring, MN that sells by far the best asparagus I've every had.

We have already picked our asparagus a couple times this year. It is really tasty stuff. From the sound of things the morels should be around by now.

Everything I’ve ever heard is that it’s their best store...

That does look good, hard to beat the price and convenience. I looked into these a couple years ago but ended up finding a fairly local guy who does great work for good prices. He's doing my second Euro now

Yeah, I just tell myself, I only have these few years to really enjoy the kids things.  It will fly by I am sure, then I will miss it.   Over the First 3 weekends of Muzzy season Isaac has 12 games, Friday thru Sunday.  Time would be thin.   Muzzy season has always been a hit and miss season for me.  Usually dont need any more meat, and no really established properties to hunt.  Public is the usual.

I found 4" along the shore of a small shallow lake...so tempting!  Anyone else finding anything fishable?

How about a digital photo frame in the shack.

I remember the picture you are talking about, but I think it was last year some time and I just don't think I could wad through all of Duff's politic fall out to find it!  😵   One of my buddies put up those adhesive backed thin cork-board squires on two of his cabin walls. Pretty fun idea of his family growing up at the cabin.  With fishing, hunting pictures mixed in.

Head-O-Lakes and Wakemup were pretty much ice free this past weekend.  Spring Bay has ice as it's really protected.  Some ice in Richie but the west wind on Monday pushed it all to the east end.

Sounds like cost/benefit analysis is underway...
