quick note on the bite

Well I know many of us do not get to make it up as much as we would like so I thought I would mention what I have seen so far this fall.

The fishing still has the feel of mid September numbers. Many good night guys have been goose egged or come back with just a few fish which have been running on the short side. This week should remain half-way decent, but closer to week end we will likely experience the lull for about 2 weeks as we make our way to the darker phases. I am still trying to pin down a good bite which has me pretty frustrated, but am confident we can still pull out a good fall season we just need to get rolling and fast! The wind has really been bucking all fall and between that and equiptment failures not much has gone right so far this fall. With a little luck and less wind hopefully we can get something going before its too late. Today is the 4th and if I can't get some things figured out by the weekend I will offically start getting worried.

At one time I posted on here all the time, but lost my user name and password and have been too lazy to post. Figured it was time to start posting again as I have been fishing Mille Lacs every weekend. Fished Friday from 6:00pm-3:00am and froze my butt off. Caught 4 fish a 24", 21.5", 20" and 15", the guy I was fishing with did not catch anything. All fish came from a small rapala firetiger deep diver. All fish were caught in 13'-18' of water. Please continue to post your reports as I would like to put together a good bite this fall. If this slow bite continue I am going to be forced to run to the Rainy River as opposed to Mille Lacs. One other note, the 24" came at 6:30pm, then nothing till 11:00pm.

We were on the lake Saturday night from 7:00PM to midnight and ended up with the first skunk of the season. Fished Center Bar and the shoreline along Fr. Hennepin Park. Never saw another boat catch a fish, either. Pulled #5 and #7 deep diver shad raps in 10-16 FOW, fire tiger and perch patterns. Switched to shallow runners in perch and chartreuse and trolled up on the 4-8' depths. Finally tried jointed floaters in blue/white and fire tiger patterns. The usual good producing spots did nothing this weekend. There's always next Saturday.

Put together a few things last night, I think the fish are starting to arrive at there typical spots. They are not stacked up yet, but there are fish on each of the spots. Still missing from the party are the usual suspects though and that has me a little worried. Anybody else have a update on the bite?

bigeyes, did you get a temp reading on some of your spots? Did the temp vary much? I hear you on the weather, not to worry though because I know you will be there when it all comes together.

Did you get your pops motor going?

My go to lures with lead core have been #5 Shad Raps and #7 Jointed Rapalas.  With Shad Raps I usually start about 2 mph with 85 ft of lead out in 20 ft of water. I usually use a 20 ft mono leader.  With Jointed Rapalas I let out 100ft of lead traveling 2 mph.  I am moving between 20 and 25 ft of water.

My name is HANNA HENRY .I want to give thanks to HAKEEM AHMED for bringing back my ex husband. No one could have ever made me believe that the letter I’m about to write would actually one day be written. I was the world’s biggest skeptic. I never believed in magic spells or anything like this, but I was told by a reliable source (a very close co-worker) that Trust is a very dedicated, gifted, and talented person,It was one of the best things I have ever done. My love life was in shambles; I had been through two divorces and was on the brink of a third. I just couldn’t face another divorce, and I wanted to try harder to make our relationship work, but my husband didn’t seem to care. and he broke up with me again . I was confused and did not know what to do again, rather they got in contact with HAKEEM AHMED. He did a love spell that made my husband come back to me. We are now very much happy with ourselves. HAKEEM AHMED makes him realize how much we love and need each other .This man is for REAL and for good . He can also help you to fix your broken relationship. I had my husband back! It was like a miracle! He suddenly wanted to go to marriage counseling, and we’re doing very, very well , in our love life . contact email [email protected] or text or add him up on whatsApp at: +27788392740 his web page http://astrologerastrology.com

You'll appreciate having less guys in the boat if you need to drag raps.

I love pulling lead core but usually don't pull it out until later in the season.  Can you share depth and speed numbers that were working with lead?  Thanks.

Heading up early Saturday morning. Going to be a short, discombobulated trip this year. Starting with 4 of us but one has to leave to watch his son play in state (WI) baseball tournament on Tuesday. Rest of us are only there until Wednesday. Kind of disappointing but I'm thinking we'll have to make a trip in September as well.    Forecast calls for wind!

Those are cormorants and they are aggressive fish eaters.  I saw more last weekend than typical on vermilion.  Pretty common  on the east end but I don’t usually see much of any on the west which is where we were.  They eat a lot of fish and surprisingly large fish for their size so they aren’t great for the fish populations.     I can’t believe how fast the water warmed up.  We were seeing up to the high 70’s last weekend.  Typically mid June is mid to upper 60’s.  The Muskies didn’t seem to be too fired up with the quick warm up.  The ones we moved were lazy and would not go in to the turn.  Hopefully some more normal temps this week help.
