Changing Lures during the full moon bite

Thanks to all of you that have shared information about night-fishing the fall bite on mille Lacs.

I am curoius, How long does any of you try a particular bait or Color before changing to a different one. Lets say Clown or black/Gold isn't working after 15 minutes, do you change and go to something else?

And when you are catching the occasional fish, do you still switch hoping to improve the bite you already have.

Any help is always appreciated.

Fifteen to twenty minutes is all I give a lure. I have three rods rigged differently and so does my partner so we usually get dialed in on a certain color or lure style pretty quick. Once the water cools off and the walters really start feeding, the color isn't as much of a factor. Over the years, the clown, chartreuse and perch have been the predominant players. One of them has always worked.

Whenever I go out trolling on Mille Lacs someone on my boat is pulling a fire tiger and that person never gets skunked if we are catching fish. For some reason the fish(smallmouth,walleyes,northerns, and the only muskie i have ever caught) like firetiger, it doesent seem to matter what day it is or what time of year that coler will produce every day if you are even on a slow bite. I usually run a firetiger on one line and a Red, black/gold, or rainbow on the other. Usually the person with firetiger will catch more fish so then we switch to that, if firetiger is catching the ocasinal fish and so is the other coler im using ill switch. if you could only have 4 husky jerks on Mille Lacs you couldent go wrong with a Black/gold, Rainbow, Firetiger, and Red( I think that colers discotinued, dont know why iv caught tons of walleyes on it) One of those 4 colers will work on any night, and if they dont your fishing the wrong spot. I do use other colers and catch fish but they arnt as consistent.
