Cold day on the water today...

Recommended Posts

We were out on the Mississipi today from Clear Lake North. Water temp was 48.9 degrees - and warmer than the air temp. We went through clouds, sun and snow all in one day of fishing. The river seemed to be about normal for this time of year as far as current etc...It was a tough day out - and we didnt see another boat - but fun to be out anyway!

We didnt do as much fishing as we did scouting out some areas to try when the smallie season starts. We have always fished from Monti up towards the power plant and below monti - but have only done from clearwater up a few times. Does anybody know when the next boat launch would be after the one just over the bridge in clearwater?? Do you have to go to St. Cloud or is there one before that??

St. Cloud is the next one upstream of Clearwater. One of the reasons it is so nice.... it is 11 river miles with no bridges, accesses, and limited houses. Has some great habitat too.
