any FM'ers going on Kab for opener?

Recommended Posts

I'll be arriving at Moosehorn Resort (where we always stay---outstanding people) on Sat. and staying till Tues. I have a Black Lund Mr Pike with a Suzuki, I fish around Echo alot, the creeck by Elsworth and of course your typical opener bays.

Any body else going to be around?.......if you see me with a couple of other guys stop and say hi!!! grin.gif I'd love to sit and chat a bit.......

I'll be out there! Comming up Friday morning early to get a nice island to stay on...hopefully Nuts (thats what we call it) island again. I don't have a game plan yet, still kind of waiting to see what the weather does. Might do the portage to Rainy as well on Sunday. I will be in my 1950 Tyee I/O, and also there will be a Crestliner 18' w/ 115 Yamaha with us. Can't friggin' wait!!!!!!! Keep your marine radios tuned.

We’ll be up as usual. Fishing out of Ash river, 16.5 Crestliner, 90 Honda. If you’re in the area stop and say hi. Always happy to see other FM people.

We usually fish near Wolf Island during the day, and a lot of times in Sullivan Bay later, but we do move around in that general area quite a bit.

Yea, My buddies and I will be up at Pine Aire from Sat. A.M. 'til Wed. morning. There will be 11 of us this year. I'll be in a black Lund 1800 Fisherman with a 150 V-Max. Flag us down if you see us buzzing by. We generally fish from Cutover to Wolf Island. See ya on the water.

I go up there about four times a year, the first time I was on that lake I new I was hooked!!!! There is another guy out of Rochester named Jim that also stays at Moosehorn on a seasonal campsite. He runs a huge blue Lund Baron with an Evenrude...nice rig and a heck of a fisherman..

Drop me a line or I'll see ya on the back side of Cutover hugged up against the Island with a slip bobber up in the shallows wink.gif[email protected]

Muskie Guy,

Get a good map, and do the voyage from Crane through Sand Point, Namakan and into Kabetogama. It's worth it just to do the voyage and enjoy the scenery!

Duke,

Thanks a ton for that link...I am hoping to have time before my trip to do a bunch of research on Crane lake, including viewing old FM posts. The link you gave me is a great one with some good areas to try durning our trip. I have heard the the gorge can get busy and I don't mind getting away from the crowds once and a while and fishing something different. My buddy has a good map of Crane and has made the journey out of Crane before, so we may try that too.

16 days, 9 hours.

Fishing Around, I don't have a Baron and have not been called a "heck of a fisherman" so you must have someone else in mind. wink.gif Thanks for the kind words anyway! smile.gif

Hope to see you up there at some point anyway as it is a wonderful place!

Water level is going down, but slowly.  My dock frame was 6" underwater last week and I can just see it above water today.  It's going to take time.

My lil island front iron crib dock also under bout six inches. No Good! Lil higher than this time May 2008.  😮😮🥅🏒😮 No good to drop west dock for lifts as that would be under also n lift rails n pads be just but under water.  No Good! Marauder Boys miss the lake too. Happened before in my 26 years out there n will happen again so we just deal doing other stuff off lake n enjoy it all. Fun being a Shore Rat for shallow Crappies around home lakes. Bust a move n keep in the Grove. 🏒🥅🤩 We figure by anniversary June 12 th level drop enuff we sneek out in smaller Lund n fix up n open up? 🤩 Best of luck to ya but be safe. This lake is deeper n darker than you or I know…🤩 Big Smiles n Keep on Rocken! T    Did'nt intend to have pic so big....Geeezzz.

We’re in the same boat. Actually I’d like to be in any boat. Our island cabin dock frame is about six inches under water. I hear that water is not rising which gives hope it will fall but I think Memorial Day is too optimistic, at least for us. You should think about other plans?

looking to do some kayak bass fishing on Clearwater lake by Annandale. Are there any Other landings other than the one on the far south west end? Was wondering how the fishing is on the east end but that is a heck of a paddle. Appreciate any feedback.

Water levels seems to be topic of the day. I'm visiting over Memorial Day week. Docks are not in on the island where I stay. Wondering if the water is going down? What do the rivers look like? Are they just pouring our water?? Is water level 6" lower than a few days ago?

Finding plenty of fish around the area lately. Water on most of our area lakes and rivers is very high. Most of the panfish have moved from those back bay areas and are staging for the spawn. You can find the pannies tucked in the weeds right now close to those spawning beds. Casting small jigs without a float to pockets of vegetation or to outside the pencil reeds has been working well.
