I just moved to Jordan and finally finished unpacking all my fishing stuff! any information on the river in this area would be greatly apreciated. I am looking for launch and shore fishing ideas, and maybe any bad spots a boat might get hung up once the water level is back to normal. I haven't been on the river with the boat before and would like some tips please.

2 years ago there were tons of carp packed below a little waterfall thing in a park. (went down about 5 times but dont remember name of park) Right across from a lake. I dont know if the carp are still going to be there but it may be worth a try.

When the river gets shallow late summer into early fall there is a shallow run 2 bends upstream from the Jordan launch off CoRd 45. Its just a big sandy run but I've seen a few guys stuck in the middle of it. Its usually passable with a small boat by hugging the shore.

Downstream just over three miles is the Carver Rapids.(just downstream of the house you can see from the river) Its a big rock formation that crosses the river in two places. The first set you can get bellow with a prop boat by staying to the left. (headed dowstream)

The second set is tougher and if I was in a prop boat I'd check it out from the downstream side coming from Carver first. Best to be safe...

Just take it slow the first few times out and you'll have her figured out. You'll like the river in that area. Lots of stuff to fish in just about every bend.

Ogre, welcome to the area! You got a clear shot at a lot of water between Shakopee and Mankato at your fingertip. There are plenty of good spots close by both from shore and by boat. The East shoreline of the river right by the Jordan ramp and up to the bend along the gravel does produce fish if you need a quick fix. We'll need to get a few guys together pretty soon and get to know each other.

A lot of my free time has come to an end now that I have a job again....but I will always find time for that river. grin.gif

I thank you guys for the information. I saw that there is a launch in Belle Plain when I was driving through the other day, do you know how far it is in river length to the one off of 45 in Jordan?....The bluffs along the river sure look nice.

Heading up to crane Lake area. How are conditions and any tips / pointers?

Yes indeed. We actually bought it together. We wedged the pontoon boat into that lift last fall and hoisted it out of the water. Unfortunately the water came up so much this spring, the pontoon couldn't float with the rising levels. There wasn't much that we could do opening weekend except wait for the water to drop and then assess the damage. It's mainly a garbage hauler so no big loss for a $500 boat/motor.

I forgot to post this but I got a jake during season B north of Princeton on some private land.  I had been hunting this flock of birds for 3 seasons now.  I hear and/or see them every day, but simply could not get a legal bearded turkey to come within range.  Finally, a hen came walking out with a jake and I dusted the jake on the 4th day of my hunt.  There's plenty of birds there, including several mature toms, so I intend to keep hunting there in the future as long as I can obtain permission.  The weather was downright terrible.  I had one nice morning of sunshine and then it was windy, rainy, and raw for days.  Saturday morning even produced a heavy summer-type down pour.  I was so thankful to be hunting in a blind.  I also saw a fair amount of other wildlife in four days, including deer, pheasants, a pair of raccoons, and a coyote.

I have questions about the following hypothetical. Buy used boat and trailer from Iowa Resident. Would need to transfer, and I have not done before. Duck boat, may occasionally fish out of it. Technically 15'11 1/2" long. Will have motor. Do I need a title? Does it need registration?   Same for trailer. Need a title? Need Registration? License Plate?   Thank you for any help.

I realize it's only been 2 days Raven77, but are you continuing to see the level decreasing?

Sight fished this one, also got a 19" off a bed with a senko but didn't get a picture because my phone died. Length was 14" for the one in the photo. Haven't been able to get out much recently, but I should be able to go Saturday.
