I was finally able to get out sunday. We hit three lakes around Brandon and couldn't get into any panfish. Anyone have better luck or did this cold windy weather cause problems for everyone this weekend? The real bummer is that we actually found some schools of fish with the Vex (in deeper water out from a small bay in one lake) but we couldn't get anything to bite.

Seemed the same for me. Saw suspended fish but could not get many to bite. Tried plastics and live bait.

I found fish on Saturday afternoon in about 1-2 feet of water. It was a shallow muddy lagoon area, set off in a distant corner of the lake I was on. The schools of fish in this warm water were extremely large. There were literally hundreds of sunfish and crappies. We had to make long casts in order to get them to bite, since they were afraid of the boat. There were also dozens of bass we had to avoid. All of these fish were small. 6 inch sunnies, 9 inch crappies, and 11 inch bass.

Sunday was fun once the wind died down before dark. we found a few nice sunnies surfacing in 3-4 feet of water. That time of dusk is great for flyfishing. If you ever get the chance to try it, its a blast!

Ya the flyfishing stuff is pretty tricky. One of my first times flyfishing my buddy snagged himself in the side while attempting to flyfish. Its was not pretty! Have you ever had that happen to you teamgriz? Sure looking forward to opener!

yes I think I have heard a story like that before. The guy almost passed out when his buddy had to stick the small hook through to clip off the barb! Those hooks are small but but they still hurt!

about 16-17 years ago i was out with some buddys fishing some small river below a dam targeting some eyes. we would go down and work each side up and down untill we found fish.

we would cast raplas and one time i happened to hook a small snake. small being like 12 inches or so. trying to handle that slymer and get my rap back was a event in it self. that little thing squirted out of my hand, fliped around the back of my hand and managed to catch my self.

with the fish hanging from the rap still, and the rap hanging from my middle and pinky finger i was in a bit of a predicament. a little paitence and i was letting the fish go.

and the rest, well lets just say with a borrowed tool i was back to fishing about 5 min later.
