Night Ban

Could someone tell me the information on the night ban this year. is it the same as past years? some one said you can fish till midnight this year, I don't believe him!

No one may fish for any species or possess fishing gear on the lake from
10 p.m. through 6 a.m. starting at 10 p.m. on May 17 and ending at
12:01 a.m. on June 14. Closed to winter spearing for all species.

The resorters would have a $hit Fit!!!!
that is one reason anyway, I'm sure there are others that people will chime in with.

I say its money...don't mess with the opener and the resulting 100% occupancy of the resorts. If some people couldn't fish at midnight on the opener, they'd probably take their boat elsewhere.

The strange part of the rule is it ends at 12:01am on June 14th. Taken literally that means you have to be off the lake at 10pm on June 13, but you can go back out at 12:01....121 minutes later. Why not end it on June 13 at 6:01 am so you don't have to vacate for 2 hours between 10pm and midnight on the 13th/14th. Although since that is a sunday-monday transition, there likely will not be a ton of boats out that night getting inconvenienced by this 2 hours, but still the reg could have been written to eliminate the gap.

This has probably been answered before but does anybody know why they just don't have the night ban starting on the opener. Why can you fish opening weekend at night but as soon as Monday comes, you can't fish at night again until June as mentioned above?

Tradition? Money? It doesn't really affect me but it just seems odd. Pretty soon the DNR will be publishing a fishing regulations booklet specifically for Mille Lacs.

I go out every year when the ban is lifted at 12:01am. last year I didn't see another boat on the lake till 1:20am. Fishing is usually good that night.
