Littleshad-Mille Lacs has a slow growing season, and for some reason the fish generally seem to stunt out around 8-9 pounds. It has the fatty tulibee, and lake shinners, but maybe not enough of them to pack on the serious pounds of some other big fish fisheries. The perch are good for the walleyes, but don't pack quite the punch that some of the more greasy bait fish have. Lots of really nice fish in the lake, "big girls actually". Your 27-29" class fish is now one of the more common classes. With plenty of exceptions most mille lacs fish in the 27+ range do weigh under card, especially during the summer months, but even in the fall when they feed the heaviest most are a little under weight. This is my experience anyway.

We got a number of big fish trolling this fall. My personal best was a 29 incher caught around the Big Point area in Sept.
Like Big Eyes said, most of those fish seemed a little light to me. That particular fish just barely made 8 pounds. That same fish on the Mississippi or Rainy in the fall would have been closer to 9 or 10.
