Fishing Report

I'm heading up to the lake this Thursday with a group of friends. We're bringing the portables and plan to fish all day and into the night. Any good advice as to where to go and what depths would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for your secret holes, I would just like to see some tight lines, decent Perch on the ice, and the chance to catch some 'eyes that I'll be forced to throw back. I usually fish off of Rocky Reef this time of year but seems the ice might still be a mess. I'd like to try some new places anyway.

As of Thur. the ice is still pretty thin in most places on the main lake. Ice in the bays is getting pretty think. Most places that were sheltered from the wind last weekend have 4+" of ice, and some of the bays have over 10" of ice. We haven't had cold enough temps for main lake travel in many locations, but the cold weather is coming this week. I will be on the water tue or wed and I can give an update on ice conditions.

I was planning on heading up on this coming sunday with a buddy. Anyone have any input where would be the best place for us to go off of. We would be fishing for mostly perch with a chance at a walleye or three. Any input is appreciated.

Cubbies and Spooge

PS We Would like something on the south half of the lake.

Fished in Isle Bay with 3 other guys on Saturday, everyone caught fish. Mostly dinks, but I managed to take home 2 perch (3 with a buddies fish) and a 15.25" walleye. Not a spectacular outing, but it felt good filleting a Mille Lacs eye smile.gif Ice thickness was approx. 8 inches.

Fished this past weekend on the east side. Fishing was slow but managed a few decent perch here and there. Ended up with 15 over 9 inches. Ice was 6-9 inches everywhere we checked.

We used a sled to get out about 1/2 a mile or just shy of that. Most of the better perch came in 13 -15 feet of water but the bite was very sparadic at best.

Was out wed. and fished out of dickies portside. Went out about a mile and found the best perch bite in 13-15ft. Ice was really rough but was 8-12". Fish were scattered and you really had to keep moving to get the bigger ones. With two guys we brought home 25 10-12" perch and no eyes. Will be back sunday

Jeff, a friend and I will be up on sunday as well and we are planning on going off of dickies any pointers for a couple of college students who are looking to catch some free food. Any help would be appreciated because of limited experience on mille lacs. Thanks in advance.

cubbies----If you head straight out from dickies in the bay get into the 14-16ft range(about 1/3 mile) there should be some fish cruising there. Or if you head slightly NW and out about 1/2 mile there is a small reef that tops out at around 9 feet---hit the breaks as it drops into deeper water is another spot to try----The fish are pretty much all over the bay just keep moving and drilling lots of holes until you find some fish. I used a green forage minnow and a full fathead or just the head----the full minnow kept the smaller ones off my line.

Good luck--maybe see you out there---I'll be in a green otter 2

I was out all day Thursday on Cove. We caught a rediculous amount of perch. Almost all of them were small. I also got a 35" Northern while we were jigging for perch. 4# test no leader, on the light action rod. That was a lot of fun, got a few pics and released him. Other than that no decent fish but it was fun to catch fish continuously. The ice was 11 1/2" where we were. No idea if it was that thick throughout. I imagine they'll be driving on cove this weekend. Good Luck all.

Went, out of lybacks last night, tons of small perch, caught 2 walleyes. We rented a house from lybacks and were having a great time until some guys decided to put a portable 10 feet from our house and park there snowmoblie 5 feet from it. This was not a big deal until right about 5pm when we got the 2 eyes they decided to pack up and there sled wouldnt start. For about 45 minutes they made so much noise we quit fishing and just drank some cold ones. The best part of the whole night was both eyes were within the slot and tasted great. Both eyes came on a glow jigging spoon with a fathead they both smcaked it hard. It was great to be out for the first time. Adam

My go to lures with lead core have been #5 Shad Raps and #7 Jointed Rapalas.  With Shad Raps I usually start about 2 mph with 85 ft of lead out in 20 ft of water. I usually use a 20 ft mono leader.  With Jointed Rapalas I let out 100ft of lead traveling 2 mph.  I am moving between 20 and 25 ft of water.

My name is HANNA HENRY .I want to give thanks to HAKEEM AHMED for bringing back my ex husband. No one could have ever made me believe that the letter I’m about to write would actually one day be written. I was the world’s biggest skeptic. I never believed in magic spells or anything like this, but I was told by a reliable source (a very close co-worker) that Trust is a very dedicated, gifted, and talented person,It was one of the best things I have ever done. My love life was in shambles; I had been through two divorces and was on the brink of a third. I just couldn’t face another divorce, and I wanted to try harder to make our relationship work, but my husband didn’t seem to care. and he broke up with me again . I was confused and did not know what to do again, rather they got in contact with HAKEEM AHMED. He did a love spell that made my husband come back to me. We are now very much happy with ourselves. HAKEEM AHMED makes him realize how much we love and need each other .This man is for REAL and for good . He can also help you to fix your broken relationship. I had my husband back! It was like a miracle! He suddenly wanted to go to marriage counseling, and we’re doing very, very well , in our love life . contact email [email protected] or text or add him up on whatsApp at: +27788392740 his web page http://astrologerastrology.com

You'll appreciate having less guys in the boat if you need to drag raps.

I love pulling lead core but usually don't pull it out until later in the season.  Can you share depth and speed numbers that were working with lead?  Thanks.

Heading up early Saturday morning. Going to be a short, discombobulated trip this year. Starting with 4 of us but one has to leave to watch his son play in state (WI) baseball tournament on Tuesday. Rest of us are only there until Wednesday. Kind of disappointing but I'm thinking we'll have to make a trip in September as well.    Forecast calls for wind!

Those are cormorants and they are aggressive fish eaters.  I saw more last weekend than typical on vermilion.  Pretty common  on the east end but I don’t usually see much of any on the west which is where we were.  They eat a lot of fish and surprisingly large fish for their size so they aren’t great for the fish populations.     I can’t believe how fast the water warmed up.  We were seeing up to the high 70’s last weekend.  Typically mid June is mid to upper 60’s.  The Muskies didn’t seem to be too fired up with the quick warm up.  The ones we moved were lazy and would not go in to the turn.  Hopefully some more normal temps this week help.
