Check the other posts for conditions. But I was up there yesterday from 8am until 5pm. went out of Cove Bay. ice looks like s--t, but was solid all the way though, seemed to be 6-7 inches everywhere I went. ended up with 6 decent perch and must have caught at least fifty little buggers. also caught three pike between 22-27 inches, man they are a blast with light line.

Good Luck

I fished Twin Bays, Ice was terrible for travel but the cube was a solid 4 inches. Looked like it had been frozen then broken up and frozen again. I did not go out to Hawksbill point though.

The whole lake is frozen as of tuesday morning. fished St. Albans bay wed night. Not much luck, but the ice looks great on the west side nice and smooth and clear as glass. Had up to 4 inches but there were places with less.

Shut up and fish!

This (from a reputable Mille Lacs Bait Shop),

"... (12-5-03)... Cool overnight temperatures brought a little more ice to Mille Lacs this week - Cove, Wahkon and Isle Bays range from 4-7 inches of ice, and there is a "skim" over a good part of the main lake. Foot traffic is common in the "Bays", and ATV traffic is becoming more noticeable each day. At this time we recommend staying in Cove, Wahkon or Isle Bay."

...emphasis is on "skim" ice and staying in the bays...of course, I'm considered a "coward" by some, but "alive" by most!

I am venturing up to Mille Lacs this Thursaday with a group of friends. Were bringing the portables and plan to fish the entire day into the early evening. How has the fishing been. Anyone have any advice as to some good spots or depths even? We are all experienced ice fisherman and have all the gear needed, I just like to get more than one opinion, especially from people that have been fishing the water. I appreciate all responses. Thanks.

I dont know where you plan on going but if i were going up there I would be going out of the west side. St. Albans Bay is a good place to start. and dont be afraud to fish shallow.
Just acouple quick thoughts

Good Luck
