sunday afternoon we were pulling spinners w/ crawlers for eyes on the north end, 1/4 mile off shore in 24 feet of water and stumbled on some perch. we kept fishing for them and ended up with 12 perch all over 10 inches- go figure- most of the fish were caught just west of the red door-it was kind of a nice surprise as i didnt think there were too may perch around and we couldnt buy a walleye bite , at least during the day

I have been hearing the same type of thing from others. Where have these perch been for the last couple of years?

I wonder if it signifies a lack of small baitfish -- the type perch usually eat.

At any rate, a continued perch bite would sure spice up the ice fishing season on the big pond!
