Zippel in a week

Recommended Posts

Anybody been out of Zippel? Was wondering how the fishing has been and how deep the sleepers are? Was up last year and did very good out of Zippel. Any hot tips would be appreciated! Need some reports to get me though the week. smile.gif

I fished out of Zipple on Sunday. I have to give them a lot of credit for the condition of their roads after all the snow we had received the day before. I was in 21 feet. I caught my 8 fish limit with only two of them being walleyes. Nothing over 15". I threw back 6 small walleyes and saugers. I started fishing at 10:30 and didn't have any action until 12:10. It was fairly steady up to 3:50.

Our group of 9 fished out of Zippel on Monday and Tuesday.

A fair number of fish but all were small. Only 18-20 FOW.

They run a top notch resort and do a great job on the road, but wish their houses were out in deeper water. Nevertheless, we had a great time.

anyone know if they are moving the sleepers out deeper? we were in 28ft last year and did real good. is there any bait that is seeming to work better? seems red and pink glow jigs were working best last year.

We went out of zipple today and fished in around 25 feet. We got set up by 8:30 and the four of us had our limit by twelve. Seemed almost any color lure and bait were catching fish. Probably the lure that got the most bites was a white and pink lure that kinda looked like a banana. Im not sure what type it is but it seemed to have more bites than the rest. We caught hardly any fish that weren't keeper size. Our biggest fish of the day was a 22". Stinks that there is a slot limit now. Oh well just have to go out again and try to catch me a 29 or bigger fish.
