I got my gift card right away, well within a few weeks, but I haven't gotten anything since.

It also depends on whether you signed up through a chapter or with the corporate office. Through a chapter takes an additional step and could take longer. Also, this time of year is pretty busy for them (state conventions and Pheasant Fest). Have patience, it is a great organization and the more you get involved the more you will get out of it.

I signed up when the gift card offer came out and got my membership card/decal stuff late last week, the gift card came within 2 weeks. So I would guess you guys should see it soon.

This time of year is nuts for them down there. Be patient. They have alot of things they are getting ready for with the State Conv. last week and Pheasant Fest. coming up and all other Chap. banquets. I was just down there(National) a couple of weeks ago to get stuff for our Chapt. banquet and they said it was crazy. I know they were loading semi's up to take stuff to Nebraska to get ready for Pheasant Fest.

If anyone here is interested in going to the Metro Area chapter banquet with Pheasants Forever let me know, I am on the committee here for the metro chapter and the banquet will be on Thursday, March 31st. We will have a number of guns raffled off and many other items up for auction or silent auction. All the money earned goes to projects that are done in counties outside of the metro area. It would be great to have a bunch of fellow FM'ers there at the banquet.

If anyone is in the northern metro, the Anoka County Pheasants Forever banquet is March 12 in Andover. There will be a four wheeler, snowmobile trailer, 20some guns, trips and more. If interested, details are in Outdoor News or on the Anoka PF website (do a search).

I joined Pheasants Forever last spring at my local banquet here in Buffalo.Spent about $250 that night.

Still have never received anything.

I don't go to banquets to win things and don't join outdoor organizations for perks.I join them because they are good for our sport.

However, I am quite bitter that I did not receive anything in the mail stating that I am a member and thanks for the support.

Will not go this year.

If you received absolutely nothing from the organization stating that you are a member, maybe your name and address did not get sent in by the local chapter. Its worth checking into.

Just my 2 cents

FMF,

I am a longtime committee member for a chapter of PF (not yours). I can tell you that banquet day is a hectic day with a million things going on and it is all done by volunteers. Not one person is paid one dime. inevitably, we lose one or two registrations for some stupid reason. Every year, we try and improve it. I guess what I am asking, is give them a break and call them up and tell them your situation. More than likely, they will correct it for you. I know those guys a little and they are good guys tryin to do the right thing. Believe me, it really is a lot of work. Right now, for our chapter, we meet every thurs nite from 7 til 11, then spend parts of another night or two working on the banquet. Seriously, give them a call and they will take care of you. Oh, you didnt by chance go to the banquet on a comp ticket did you? If so, some times they do not include memberships. I know I can speak for them in that they really appreciate your support in the past and would love to have your support in the future. It goes towards a good cause. Maybe you even want to think about becoming active in the chapter and put your efforts into making sure that what happened to you never happens to anyone else??

Best of luck. If you are interested in coming to the Anoka banquet, let me know. I will gauruntee you, we will not lose your membership.

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
