Just thought I would post a ice report. I was on gun yesterday and there is about 8-9 inches. not much action though as far as fish go.

Was that suposed to be 18" to 19"? I sure would hate to think I was driving my 1 ton van all over the lake on sunday on only 8 to 9".

I do agree on the panfish bite. We saw plenty of crappies with the camera. Just could not get them to bite. The ones we did get where about .5#.

Saw plenty of northerns with the camera also.

well i was on the humps on the NE side of the lake and i had 8"-9". However it is usually the last place to freeze up. So depending on where you were at you could have been really lucky. I would think it might be a little early to be out with a vehicle that size.....but thats your decision crazy.gif do you fish gun very often?

I get around to fishing it maybe just a few times a year. My In Laws live right near there. We stuck to the west side and the south shore line. Had plenty of ice there. Found the same thing on Dam lake.

If I was up that way more often you would see me out there.

Easy does it out there folks.

Gun at this point has areas of 16" of ice, and areas with only 6" of ice. It can be unpredictable.

We were ice fishing at first ice on 4-5" of ice while there was plenty of open water on spots out there.

Mike89 is spot on. Explore that river. Walleyes and cats can be had.

Shore fishing can be limited. Personally I would go to the fish hatchery on Lake Tetonka. There is a spot there that produces pretty well at times.

Good Morning everyone, The family and myself will be in Mankato July 27-29 for the MSF baseball tournament(U11).  It appears we may have down time Sat. Was wondering if  anyone could point me in the right direction to a shorefishing area I could take the family?   First time to Mankato, so no real idea where to look. Thank you.

I hadn't hit the river in >1 month, but last night went Fishing below the SCSU dam in St. Cloud last evening and the river conditions are really quite good for July.  Water height is at a good level and the past week of dryness has improved water clarity. (...that may change today with possible rain all day in forecast) Probably the hottest bite I've ever had in the river--Pretty much everything was biting on nightcrawlers!  (there were 10 different species pulled out in <2 hours!)  Fun Evening!

I assume you mean the 110 size one.  I have all three, the 90, 110, and 130 in different colors.  I have never had great luck using them however.  They are a well made lure and they have good plopping action, I just can't get very many bites on them.
