June fishing question...

Hi all:

It looks like my dad and I will be fishing Mille Lacs the first week of June. He enjoys bobber fishing, but I am wondering what some of you think about which area of the lake, north or south, would be better for us to fish during the day. We only have a 14 foot boat with a 25 hp. motor, so we don't want to be too far from shore. I'm not looking for anyone's spot, just the north end or the south.

Thanks for your replies...

I would focus on the south end. Alot of structure and many area's where you do not have to travel a long ways, especially if bobber fishing is your ticket.

I guess it depends on where the wind is coming from.

I do like the South end though, but I've also caught some eyes in the mud on the North. Of course that was this past winter, but anyways...

The South does have some Islands to use for cover from the wind.

South end is a better option in my opinion.
Much more structure. Just a better spot for the June timeframe your talking. Just my two cents.

Southwest is a very good option. Mud flats (i.e. Shermans Flat) should start early June.

Night fishing on Shermans Pt. can be good. Lighted slip bobber and a leech.

If you're going the first week of June, then expect some boats(175-200). The Wave Wacker is June 5-6. Expect boats out there a few days prior pre-fishing.

You may want to think about the east side. Out of Fishers Resort you only need to go out a couple hunderd yards to get into some good slip bobber fishing and you are close to the sand if you would like to try some rigging. Greg and Dean will let you know what is going on. If it is to rough you can caught a ride on the launch. Good Luck

Thanks to everyone who has put in their $.02; it looks like the south side is where we will start, unless I hear otherwise...
