Lake Sullivan eyes

Is anyone heading out to Sullivan for opener. My buddy has a cabin on the lake and will hit it opening night for some eyes. Has anyone been out fishing crappies on Sullivan? If so what do you do have for a water temp?
Good luck on opener

The walleyes I've caught or underwater viewed were all weed fish. The problem with fishing for them there or anywhere is the pike. Bring a lot of extra jigs or hooks and beads for rigs.

What kind a boat you going to be in? I don't know if I'll get out on Sullivan or not. I live on Platte and will probably fish for Pike and hope to crank an occasional eye.

basspastor I will be in a alumacraft lunker. I plan on fishing sullivan friday night at midnight till the morning if weather permits. How about your self? Do you plan on being out Friday night. I have a pretty good spot from last year that I am really excited to try this weekend. Submit a reply and we can work togather on finding the eys.

My plan is to go to Mille Lacs and fish from shore at midnight. My guess is that I will catch quite a few fish doing that if the weather is right. If the fish are biting I will stay however long until they quit.

I would rather throw lures and catch big fish than ones to keep, so Mille Lacs is a good fit for this bass fisherman. Whether or not I get out on Sullivan is going to depend on whether I can get the fishing boat out of the boat house. It's an old 14ft Alumacraft with a 5.5.

If you want another stick in the boat for Sat. night email me at [email protected] and I'll get you my number. I used to have a couple of spots on my gps but it is fried. Good Luck

As far as temps and Crappies, I haven't heard much of anything. Temps on Platte are running in the mid to high 50's, but Platte is so much shallower than Sullivan, they are two totally different lakes.

If you can get out scouting before opener, there are a couple smaller rock piles on the west side out from the biggest point. I've found walleyes tucked in there. I can't quite remember but I think they were located in the 15' to 20' depth. Otherwise, I would think shallow would be the key.

Thanks for the tip. Do you think either of the inlets would be good for wally's in the moving water. I have fished a couple rock piles in the summer and they have produced fish.

Had some luck but no size. Managed to get around a dozen eyes but nothing bigger than 15". A couple years I will be back for the bite. Lots of small pike.
