I know this is totally off the topic but I don't know how people call nascar a sport you sit in a car and go in circles 500 times how do they train? with a steering wheel with weights on it? I must be a pretty good athlete because I drive to work everyday I guess so I just never got into nascar

nascar is like basketball, wait til the end and then it will get exciting.

little island dud, ever use your brain?

the hit on fergy was a cheap shot and i would say that even if it happened to a viking!

It was pretty brutal, but I don't think the results were intentional. He was just looking to get the tackle, and you do that about any way you can. And yes, I would say the same thing if that happened to moss, wiggins, or burleson. It's all about timing, and Darius messed his up, he didn't time it right to get a clean tackle.

Big Island,

When it seems everybody else disagrees with you, at what point do you stop and think that maybe your wrong? If one is offended, maybe they should toughen up, if all are offended, maybe it was offensive. Just a different way to look at it. No judgements.

I played football through high school and secondary. The game is fast and sometimes you don't realize what your hitting or grabbing. I don't think it was intentional.

Some times a face mask feels like the front side of the shoulder pads. He could have been attempting a tackle on the shoulder area and got the neck instead! He only had a split second to place his arm out, and thats just where it ended up...

I think the hit on ferguson was a legit attempt to tackle him/defend the pass. If I remember correctly they were both in the air and if his arm would have hit 4 inches lower, everyone would have just called it good defense. Personally I think the fine is rediculous. I have seen facemasks that looked worse (and could do more damage) than that and they are a 15 yard penalty with no fine. This is all overreaction to a fast paced play in a fast paced game.

Okay I'm sure to draw the ire of some Nascar fan(s), but since I've never been one to bite my tongue... Nascar racing has got to be the most simple minded TV watching ever! I have tried not to stereotype but it just doesn't help... Just about everybody I've met that likes Nascar is either a redneck or lives north of Hwy 55 (not including west of 494) I call this the "Instant stupid line" I can't imagine spending any time watching this kind of programming.
Those are just my thoughts, feel free to drill me for my love of football and hockey
... we all just have different tastes I guess.

Buzzsaw, I live north of hwy 55 and I am plenty smart. Also, I agree nascar is NOT a sport. At least I am not a 612'er. grin.gif

Elylake.... sorry.. it was more in reference to the Northern metro suburbs of Anoka, Andover, coon rapids, brooklyn park, brooklyn center etc... It's just a stupid thing me and a few friends have managed to hang on to since our High school days. It seemed like every time I would go inside of these city limits I would either see a Calvin sticker with him wizzing on another make of a car or a nascar sticker... it just kind of stuck that anything "locally" north of Hwy 55 was the "instant stupid line". I know it comes off as offensive... heck there are plenty of redneck stickers just south of Lakeville where I live. Take it all in good fun.

Anoka Redneck here. I don't care for them those Nascar folk much neither. I feel that it is the poor man's tennis. But instead of the back and fourth head motion, its more like a circle motion.

Happy new year to y'all.

Be safe and y'all north of Hwy 55 stay away from your sister if you have too much to drink.

Oh yeah Go VIKS

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
