The walleye regulation as far as size restrictions takes effect on Saturday 12:01am
and that restriction is: 17" to 28" must be returned immedtiately to the water.
The 14" to 16" restriction ended last season.
Now this is what I was trying to explain to my son who insists that the 14" to 16" is in effect until monday 12:01am!
Whats correct?

I believe your correct on this. The new regulations go into effect with the new season.

Originally the DNR had proposed that the 14" to 16" slot be kept until the night ban went off in June. This was going to be done to help assure that we didn't exceed our poundage limit for the year. After reanalyzing the walleye population in the lake and the low number of walleyes taken over the winter this proposal was dropped. So long story short you can keep walleyes under 17" with 1 over 28" (possession limit of 4).
