Boat Ramps and Crappies

Is there a boat ramp in the Wigwam Bay area? If not, where are some ramps that are close by?

Also, I have Friday before opener off of work and would like to find a crappie lake close to the big pond. Any lakes in the area known for early season crappies.

Thanks a lot,

Thanks DGS for the info,

I definately don't mind paying a few bucks to launch, especially on opener where the public launches will be a zoo.

I would guess that these private (pay)launches will have room for parking even if you don't get there by 4:00AM?!?

Also, any advice on local crappie lakes?

Thanks again,

Whitefish Lake is an excellent crappie lake in the summer but I'm not sure about spring.
If you are heading north on 169, when you reach Wigwam Bay Resort take a left on the road right past it. Whitefish Lake is a 1/4 mile down on the left side.

Anybody know the water temp in Mille Lacs??

other good lakes are boarden, dam, and portage lake. these are all good panfish lakes. portage has big sunfish, same with dam, and if your looking for the big crappies boarden lake is your lake.

The closest public access (that I know) to Wigwam Bay is the just south of Wigwam. As your heading north on 169, go past the light by the casino and take a right at the signs.

If you want to launch into Wigwam and pay a fee, stop at the North Start resort and talk to Pat or Louie.
