Are the Permanents out yet?

Hey guys, my dad mentioned something about maybe making a trip to LOW sometime in the week after Xmas. Question is, do the resorts have the permanents out yet? I would think they would atleast be out by then.

Morris Point has a lot of ice.

Is that a that a yes? I have never been up to lake of the woods and really dont know about how long the lake takes to freeze enough for permanents.

I fished 1/4 mile NE of Springsteel from 9:00 until 1:00. I was in 18" feet of water with about 14" of ice. I walked out. I had to cross 2 ridges which ran near the island and then off towards Warroad. I noted consistent ice thickness all the way. There was a crack about 50 yards from where I fished and I don't know how the ice was beyond that point however, a number of snowmobiles and ATV crossed w/o any problems. There were a number of houses another 1/4 to 1/2 mile out. They may have been permanents but I don't know for sure. They would have been brought out by ATV or snowmobile.

I brought home 4 walleyes between 14" and 18 1/2". I threw back a number of smaller ones.

On the east side of the lake, Zipple, Morris Point and

the lake side of Pine Island there are lots of permanent

houses. The resorts are getting situated and the fun is

about to begin.

Up till now it has been ATV, Snowmobiles and the Tiny SUVs

the resorts use for pulling. After this weekend I would

think we will start to see some trucks out. ( not mine, but

some)

I fished N.E. of springsteel also on Sunday. I didnt see 14 inches of ice but we did find 9.5 out at the reef. Fishing was kinda slow and the weather was cold. BUT it was still fun to get out there.
