It sure is quiet out there. There has to be some ice out there someplace that will hold a fat old man (Dave) and a slender good looking elderly gentleman (me) up long enough to catch a fish. The Mrs. is getting tired of me hanging around the house and being a nuisance. I can just feel it there is some good ice out there. The perch mobile pulls real bad to the left every time I get to the stop sign by the shed. It just senses it's time to head nort. I'm guessing the fish aren't as tight lipped as the fisherman. I've heard some rumors but so far that's all they are. I guess I'll have to go out and find out myself if there is enough ice. I'll let ya'll know when I return. Don't ya'll jam up this server puttin' those reports in here. Wade, we will be on the ice on Christmas eve. I'm just not sure where yet. If I see you on the ice, I'll give a wave and a holler and you can do the same.

Hey Grumpy!! I heard there were a few brave souls ice fishing Anglers bay on Spirit lake this week already!!! I'm not sure how thick the ice is but it must be gettin close!!

Saturday morning I braved the wind and fished northerns on Lime lake in Avoca. Sunday morning I was on Fox Lake.

Both lakes have about 4" of ice on them where I was fishing.

I JUST REALIZED THE VIKES / GREEN BAY GAME IS ON FRIDAY!

If it were any other Vikes game, I'd have no troubles skipping it. I guess I could listen to it on a radio.

I'll just have to see how everything unfolds here this week. I know the boss lady has to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Right now I am back home in Ramsey for Xmas break. I have been hitting the walleyes and perch in St. Cloud. I will be back to school in Marshall and work at Borch's on 1/3. Keep the reports coming and I will see you on the ice. Feel free to stop in 1/3 and 1/4 to talk ice fishing.

I would like to take my bucket of tip-ups and try northerns on Lime lake.

IS it worth the drive over? Any size northerns are great for me.

Waterwolf, yes it is worth it. Fish the east side right off of HWY 59. Or, the SE side right by the landing. Anywhere between the culvert and the landing is where the northerns have been the best. You don't have to go very far out. You will see a fish house about 10 feet from shore.

Best luck has been using dead smelt. Plop em right on the bottom. The waters about 3 1/2 to 4' deep.

There's a good chance you will be dealing with some hammer handles. But, if you are patient it will pay off. There are a lot of Mr. bigs in there.

Hey, ww169. I haven't got them in yet. I'll get them in when I get back from Lake of the Woods. To get through I grabbed some golden rod bulbs while I was out pheasant hunting the other day. The grubs inside the bulbs work well also. I'm ready for my first trip out fishing. I'm going to my favorite first ice spot. There's plenty but just no size. It's a good tune up. The family is all coming home for fishing on Friday. We gotta keep the tradition of fishing on Christmas eve going. Even got one of the niece's husbands along this year. The family keeps growing. Got the deer meat home last night. The beef gets processed in a couple of weeks and the elk gets shipped next week. I guess we can eat for a while. If it runs, flies, or swims past the house, it ends up on the table. I'll let you know where they're biting or I'll see you on the ice. You already know where I'm going. What's for breakfast Friday? Should I bring anything for that or are we just doing coffee on the run?

Bring your own coffee. I don't have any in the house. The Mrs. says it's bad for my health, so I only drink diet dew for breakfast. The breakfast burritos will be ready when you get there. Still not sure where we will go. The radar on the perchmobile will guide us. I just watched Star Wars. The force will be with us.
