thin ice no fish - thats about all i got so far. be carefull if you go out - ice is anywhere from 4 to 1 inch. found some real thin spots last night - looks like i have been the only one out so far and i would guess there is a reason for that.

thanks for the info mtreno. I'll be checking out prior tonight, out at sand point and paradise bay. I'm determined to be fishin by Sunday. Hearing the forcast, odds seem pretty good right now!

I was just out in my boat there 6 days ago, got some crappie.

I doubt it is ready for icefishing yet, but it wont be long with that arctic blast heading this way! 8)

There were fisherman out today on both Prior and Spring. I didn't check the ice on Spring but Prior had 4" 100' out from the Upper PL launch. Most folks were sticking to the bays.

I swung by this afternoon. I walked out maybe 75 yards and no problems. There was one smaller permanent out there(Yikes!) The Ice by the launch was weird. It looked like fish scales, or lots of small chunks that have fused back together. I also actually drove the truck out just far enough to get the front wheels on the ice to see if I would here cracking and nothing. I do not plan on driving out there yet.(nor am I saying it is safe for anything else)I should be able to get out next weekend. Yeah!

SCHAAKATTACK - ahh you seen my shack - there are five small spear shacks on the lake as of sunday night. the one you saw (black) was sitting on about 3-4 inches the other day. sure there is more out there now. the ice is all chunky like that from the wind. once you get out a ways its just like an ice rink - oh ya we had some skaters out sunday. ice seems good around the shore but still a bit thin as you go out far

MTRENO, I believe the one I saw was white. Straight out from the boat launch(Okay and a little to the left) It is good to know that if it is supporting small perm's than my portable should work. How was the bite? I've mostly seen small sunnies crappies & perch(oh wait maybe that was a walleye.LOL!) I have never caught enough that was worth keeping for any kind of a meal on this lake but it is still fun to get out(the following statement is just my experience, your results may very, subject to change without notice)Sorry I don't know what just got in to me maybe the lack of fishing!

I have to ask since the name implies it but are there any parts of the lake to stay away from due to springs or bad ice during the season?

SCHAAKATTACK - yep thats the one accross from us. there is a wood colored one close to that one as well. my buddie fished for about on hour last night but only got one slab. said there were a few on the vex but no takers. no eye's.

i have seen the dnr mark off an area northeast of the access but i am not sure if that was due to a spring or something else. i do know the whole lake seemed to freeze up fine. someone with more long term expirence of this lake may have better info on springs then i have. you could ask mike at mk fishing - sure he could fill you in.
