Knife/Ann/Fish Lakes - Mora

Recommended Posts

Was out on Fish Lake yesterday in Mora. Just a couple perch were all we could manage. Didn't try out by the island, because thats where the crowd was, just tried straight out from the bar. Anywhere from 6"-7" of ice where we were drilling holes. One guy braved it with a four wheeler, but that wouldn't be me yet.

Drove by the South end of Knife Lake and saw a few guys fishing out in front of the pier. Not sure how much ice was there, I didn't check in with them. There's been reports of 5-6" out by the Indian Mounds and people are catching a few crappies here and there.

Also have been hearing people are out on Ann Lake, but haven't drove out there since the last trip I made in the boat so I don't really have much else on it.

There's definitly fishable ice out here now, and it feels good!

Thanks for the reports Hip Hop!

Are you going to fish any of the "Ice Series Events"?

Haven't signed up for any yet, but plan to. Went to the event up at LOW last year and had a good time even though I didn't catch any fish!

Where were you fishing on Ann? Was in talking to the guys at Jerry's and they said people have been getting some Northerns out there lately.

Was out on Fish Lake again yesterday, no crowd like the day before. Tried both ends of the island to no results. Couldn't even mark a fish. Probably why no one else went back out there!

Jipper...Hey, you would'nt happen to be one of the fellas that talked to the two hunters that came out on the ice from #47 landing are you?

We were comming back from a Grouse trip on Thursday and we stopped to talk to a couple of fellas that were out fishing on Ann in the area you mentioned.

They had my son and I laughing our butts off...it was making ice and making the cracking noises and the one fella, who was pretty stout, says to my son and I as he munched his Doritos, " Geeze, you guys must be f----- heavy? The ice did'nt do this before you got here!" I told him it was all the shells I had in my pockets.

His timing was perfect and then his bud tells us about a "Wuff" he seen eating a deer up on #47, it was great, we chuckled off and on all the way home!

If that was you, thanks, Ron White could'nt have done it any better! grin.gif

Jipper...Yes, but are you and your bud the guys we talked to? There was another guy in a blaze orange suit, further up the lake.

My family bought a cabin on Ann Lake last year. Going ice fishing for the first time over Christmas weekend. Looking for some info on going after panfish (gotta keep the kids interested). After getting to know the lake this summer, seems like I should concentrate in the deeper area such as off Indian Point. Any info would be appricated. Thanks, Jim

Here is one piece of advice...concentrate your efforts in the late afternoon and early evening, until maybe an hour after dark!
