You are going to have to take your time and check as you go for a little while yet. Bowens Flat has a good 6 inches out to just about the channel. I had some guys on Monday that went out though Thrird River hoping to get out past Stoney and Mallerd Points but said once they got past the point said there was only a couple inches of ice. They have the dams opened up going in and out of the lake causing some current action and the Corps. said it will be that way till the early part of Jan. cause of to much water over around Bemidji and Cass. The cold weather the next few days will help alot. I havent talked anybody going out of Dennys or Nodaks the last few days I would think that area would be getting enough ice for Atv.s or snowmobiles soon. Bill Powell

Yeah, I'm trying to find a good update on the ice conditions on the south end...I'd like to take my small permanent up there and move it out (Nodak's/Denny's area) this weekend. Anyone with some good info for me?

Nodaks Lodge website (updated today) says "5-7" of ice, 4-6" of snow. Been out as far as 2 miles. ATV and snowmobile travel excellent."

I was out on 12/16 and the ice thickness varied a lot. We were on wheelers and shouldn't of been in some areas 3"-6". Only out a mile or less on I think it was snag hole. The snow has a crust on it so the wind won't blow of the snow off. Where ever there was more snow, less ice. fiishing was slow also.
