Well went fishing on the big pond last night. The bite was hot and heavy from about 4-7 p.m. It seemed as though the bigger eyes bit earlier. The ice is pretty broken up out there. I hope that it would re-open and refreeze.

How much ice is out there? Hopefully will be out there this weekend sometime. Looks like we're not going to get that warm up they were talking about!

You must have been the two out from the Pelican Bay access I saw yesterday on my way home. Glad to hear the bite was good and it's always excting to see the first people on the ice! How thick was the ice?

There was just about 3 inches. There was one spot that had only about 2 inches. It must have froze over a little later than the rest. It takes about one chop to get through, so it's not that hard to make your holes for the night. Take a buddy with, just in case something goes wrong. The ice was really, really talking to us on the way out!

Wow only 3 inches huh? I thought for shure there would be more that that at the first 200 feet because it had been froze over for a good week still sounds a little to unsafe for me

yes, yes, yes, I cant wait, I have never ice fished OT yet, only open water. always find myself at a lake closer to home, but the heck with it, 65 miles aint bad at all.

Had a 4 wheeler on the north side, first break yesterday. 5 good inches of ice. Fishing not too hot.

Did you go out in front of your cabin on the first break? I am heading out tomorrow morning to Wall and fish in front of the in-laws. I will let you know how the bite is. Anything out of the bay north of underwood?

Did you see anyone out beyond the initial breaklines on Ottertail?

The bay has been very slow, spearing and fishing. I did not see anyone past the first break on OT on wed, but the ice looked smooth and even for quite a ways.
