Rainy Lake?

I am looking for a good lake to fish over winter break, first choice would be L.O.W. but all the hotels are booked around their, so just wondering if venturing to Rainy the day after christmas would be productive enough to justify driving all the way up from the cities? If so please clue me in on where to go out of, I have never ice fished rainy?

A couple buddies and I have been going up there for three years now, its a great time. We have been staying at Island View Lodge in the lodge rooms (the "inland" rooms are cheaper), so if woody is booked give it a try. We usually do pretty good just out from Island View. Be careful on the lake, it can be interesting. I would buy a good map w/GPS points marked and load them before you go.
