Amsoil?????

behmer

Question

Just wondering if anyone ever used this type of oil....it seems to be the talk at the office for both augers, snowmobiles, atv, and outboards. They say that it is as close to being smokeless as they get. It's pretty expensive for the gallons for boat motor and etc.

I love the stuff! I run it in all my stuff. My 175 Merc, ATV, snowmobiles etc.. I did have issues with starting/idling when I tried it in my auger and chainsaw, and whatever I did these 2 engines did not like the oil.

I used several gallons of oil in my 175 this summer and at the end of the season I pulled the spark plugs and they looked like the day I put them in. No carbon build up, smoke is 1/2 to non-existant and the smell doesn't give you a headache. Worth every penny IMO.

You can buy it a independent dealers, but Fleet Farm is a major supplier. smile.gif

I have run Amsoil in my truck and wife's car for quite a while now. It is the best. Engine starts like summer time after sitting on a lake all day in the dead of winter. Amsoil gear lube makes shifting a lot easier too.

Thanks, I think that this year I will try it first with my little engines and see what I think before I put it in my Merc 175. I heard just the same responses at the office with the lack of smoke and ease of starting w/o fouling the plugs.

Thanks Again

Amsoil makes a good product, but its not infallible either. Amongst race car drivers you will get a lot of opinions about Amsoil. I run their synthetic gear lube in my tranny and my rear end and love it, but I won't use their oil. One of the guys I run with has blown up two motors with Amsoil in them.

I do think their gear lube is top notch but I'm not sure on their motor oil. I think any good synthetic will be just as good. I don't think its junk though either, so don't get me wrong.

I stopped by Fleet Farm off of 169 and 81, but they had every kind of amsoil except the 2-stroke. I might just order it online. It'll be couple of weeks before the perm goes on Tonka.

I run it in my Yamaha 115 4 stroke and have had no problems with it. Also ran their product in my lawn mower and weed eater and it was fine. Im going to run it in my new Nilsmaster as soon as I get it. Expensive but you can get on a prefered customer type deal and save money.

I use another synthetic called opti 2 wich comes in a plastic pouch with 1.8 ounces in it wich mixes to a gallon of gas.Fleetfarm might still have it but not sure, the last time I bought some was at a small engine shop in Coon Rapids.Run it in all my 2 cycles and works very well and a lot less smoke.

You guys should check out Royal Purple.I build engines for a living and they have the best products by far.Besides engine oil they have 2cycle,fuel sytem treatments, gear oil,and coolant additives.

In our racing engines we have noticed less wear on all parts, cleaner plugs and combustion chambers, and far less bearing wear.Studies have also proven an increase in horse power.

I am not saying amsoil is bad,and I am not affiliated with,or sell royal puple.
