Any Info on Wild Rice Lake Resevoir?

I just want to know if anyone has information on wild rice lake resevoir. Like ice thickness, or if any one ice fishes it.

Rice is a little sketchy. It seems that most years someone goes through out there. I think it is due to a few things but mainly that it is fairly shallow by the access and the follow of the water there. Rice has good summer time fishing...walleyes and panfish are fairly abundant, so i would imagine the winter to be productive as well. I would definitely check with others fishing that lake or try another lake. Fish Lake is a good alternative lake with alot areas, good accesses and fairly consistent ice conditions. I was fishing on Wild Rice lake Yestersay 12/14. I found there to be a solid 8" of ice. I'm sure if a person looked hard enough they could find lesser amounts. Do not go left of the landing for the most part until out on the lake well past the mouth of the dam. The lake was making ice yesterday all day. It was non stop craking and popping. I fish the lake mostly for Northerns. Hope that helps, I'll see ya on the ice.

Rice certainly is a bit sketchy with a good blanket of insulating snow. Should be fine now though. Theres a good population of walleyes and an explosion of pike in the last 5/6 years on Rice. If you get into the perch they're bound to good sized. Same goes for the crappies but they're hard to find in the winter. If we get any good snow depth out there definitely don't go to the right between the island and shoreline, that area will open up in the middle of winter. While I've driven a vehicle onto Rice in the past I limit my travels to ATV or Sled.

I just wanted to say thanks for your replies. My Pops, brother and I fished that lake in open water for at least 8 years. We managed to catch nice walleyes, as well as crappies and jumbo perch. Also alot of snakes were caught. Always wanted to ice fish the lake, but never made it in the area to do so. We fish mostly red lake in the winter, but the crappies there are pretty much the same as wild rice that we catch in the summer. Thanks again for you replies, we are going to ice fish rice lake this year. So look for the two voyagers and two yamaha wheelers.
