Question

Does anyone know of where a guy could get a 12 volt t.v. or is there not such a thing? One kinda like they put into vehicles because we don't have a generator around. How much do they run about?

I've seen them on e-bay. The Tv/vcr or the TV/dvd combo is about $150.00. Give or take a few bucks. Most electronics stores carry them. I have one that is 12v dc or 110v ac. I get junky reception with it on the lake but I don't have a decent antenna. So, I just plug in a movie.

I bought a 9 inch flat screen dvd combo from best buy last year. It runs in my van and in the house. It cost about $250.00 bucks. I can also hook up a game system to it or use it for a cd player, and I also hook it into my TV in the bed room so I can watch DVDs.

I personally just use a standard ac tv and an inverter for my fish house. I find that a fully charged deep cycle battery will keep a 13-inch tv and my lights running for about 10 hours.

My kind of topic! grin.gif

I also use a TV with an inverter-cheaper by the way than an ac/dc tv. I found that if you are out in an area where reception is UHF or marginal at best, if you have an older TV with the knobs they work best (they alloy manual tuneing). Most of the newer TV's have auto tuners and if they don't get a great signal all you get is a blue screen.

If you are looking for a basic unit there are ac/dc black and white 4"-5" screen models that cost around twenty dollars. They are lightweight and probably wouldn't interest theives as much as a big unit. Mine gets good reception around the Metro area.

Cheaper ones in my area have a harder time getting good reception. I've used just about everything as an antena, most of them seemed to work.

I picked up an additional Satellite dish for the fish house. I bring the box from home, hook-up to the TV and satellite and I have a complete line up of TV shows with great reception.

I installed an inverter to my 12-volt electrical system to run the TV and satellite. I also have the capability to run my generator into the fish house to charge the batteries.

I have a pop-up antenna that has excellent recepetion. It only ways a few pounds and folds down for travel on the side of my fish house. [Please read forum policy] When it comes to 12 volt TV's, if you can find a black/white use it because they are better on your batteries.
