Spray -on Foam Fish House???

Johnsonator

Question

I see some fish houses at LOW have exteriors that are sprayed on foam insulation. Has anyone ever seen these? Anybody know how to do it or who does it? I bet it would be lightwieght and very warm. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I think its a great idea, at 1" thick the R value is aprox 7.2, about 2.2 better than blue broard. the cost is about .65 per sq ft for 1" thick $1.00 for 1.5". so its not cheap. the house would be very tight so ventalation would be a must.

I have stayed in the houses you're talking about on LOW. I don't know how to apply it, but boy did it work great.

That was the warmest ice house I've been in.

Cyrus was the resort if you want to contact the,.

My house has it on the inside. The advantage of having it on the outside is that you could mount things to the studs/plywood walls easier.

Does anybody know who does it, or if you can do it yourself by renting the equipment?

I checked out one at the Sportsmens show in Fargo last spring and I can point you towards them, but they don't sponsor this site you'd better shoot me an email at [email protected]

They have a hard exterior, fiberglass frame and spray on insulation inside.

The insulation you are refering to is called iceneene. I know that is not spelled right but it's really cool stuff. Call your local insulating contractors to see if they do it. Be forwarned, it's spendy, but so is a Cadillac.

there is a guy in Gibing MN that does it, my dad got an estimate for our 6 1/2 x 12 fish house and it was $600 so we said forget that. now im using expanding form for all the joints, corners and the slots in the steel siding, and then we are putting in the pink foam, this saved us over 400 bucks doing it this way. And our house doesn't even have the pink foam installed yet or the paneling on the inside and it is solid as a rock. This was on the inside though

I know people who have done it and it wokrs great. You have to paint it once a year cause the sunlight is the only thing that will rot it. It ain't cheap though. My dad used to do it, I believe it's called uerethane (sp). In the mid seventies his machine cost 15 grand used. I believe the price on equip has gone down but don't know foresure.?
