I feel sheepish about asking a fishing question after reading the post about the large development on the east end but here goes. I go to Big V a couple weeks out of the year. I want to target deep pike with big plastics. Has anyone ever had success doing this on Vermilion. I will be up in late July this year.

Hey Lawman,

No need to feel bad, no matter what happends with the development a guy still has to go fishing. smile.gif

Jigs and plastics are a great way to catch some of the largest Pike in the system on many lakes.

The Big V is no exception when it comes to jiggin

for big Pike. One bonus is that you also catch some big Muskies with a jig presentation. smile.gif

Deep points and large mainlake structures are my prime locations during the high summer period. I use reapers, creatures, lizzards and a few other plastic concoctions, including tiger tubes. smile.gif

Very few anglers spend much time looking for Big Pike in deep water, so you won't be fighting any boat traffic. Look for extended points, boulders or transision areas around the primary structures that your fishing. Sometimes they want it ripped and other times they just want it lying there in front of them. Finding them on your locator is a breeze most of the time, however you need to look in the right places to find them. smile.gif

Thanks for the info Ace. As a follow-up question...is this basically a vertical presentation?
