I will be going out of Hunters Resort in the next week or so. Has anyone gone to this resot and what were your likes or dislikes on this subject? How far out, baits, depths, and structure were you fishing and what kind of luck have you had? Thanks and good fishing, Scheuney

We stayed in one of Hunter's sleepers 2 weeks ago when this cold front just rolled in and fishing was tough during the day for walleye. The walleye would start biting after dark, it wasn't hot and heavy but you seem to get a bite every couple hours. The latest bite at about 4:00am. Not much sleep but a lot of fun. We caught 8 with one in the slot and the rest too big. We were in 25'. The perch were slow but seem to be in deeper water 30+. We only caught 9 jumbos. George the owner of Hunter's is a great guy. He'll give you an honest fishing report and tries to get his houses in decent fishing areas. His houses are bare bones so don't expect many luxuries.

Thanks Gem-n-eye. I have a friend who has his house out about 2 miles so we do not have to go the bear bones route. Any other reports would be helpful. Lets just hope that the fishing picks up. Thanks again. Good Fishing!!!!! Scheuney

You want a chance at some action, head out about 7 miles from Hunter's to "Fisher Flat", "Boot Flat", "Sliver Flat", "Greg's Flat"...

The spot that's good is the southern part of Greg's Flat as it comes together with Fisher Flat...find the transition and you should do well...(I hope!)

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  That was about 25 yards from the blinds.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
