Whats on your ice fishing wish list?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately it doesnt look like I will be on the ice Thanksgiving weekend, but, it will happen soon enough!!

Here is my Christmas wish list! (Tracy ya listening?)

1. A new skin for my Otter Lodge! I LOVE my Otter! But, after 5 years of abuse, gale force winds, and 20 mile jaunts across the lake it has developed few rips and its not as pretty as before. My Otter sled is indestructible! They are deffenitely the best in the buisness as far as I am concerned.

2. A new Marcum Flasher! I have a Vexilar FL8SLT that is great, but I really liked the crisp clear screen on those Marcums.

3. Lots and Lots And Lots of Scenic Tackles "Angel Eyes" I am stubborn, I have stuck by my standard jigging spoon and usually can outfish most with it. BUT. There have been more times than I care to remember that I got smoked by the "Angel Eye"! I have seen these things work from Pool 4 on the Mississippi in open water for waleyes, to smoking hot on Mille Lacs for walleyes and perch, to giant slabs on Red Lake and everwhere in between. These are deffenitely going in my ice box!

What do you guys want for this ice season?

1) Ice. Duck season still has a few more days, but I'll take the ice now.

2) An Otter portable. Hey, I already got that a couple months ago. I was shamed into replacing a vintage (1989) Fish Trap by Exudedude. I suppose I got my money's worth out of that shack.

3) Hardly any snow! Alright, let it snow some for the snowmobilers, but melt down on the lake right away.

4) Let all of us FMers live in good health through another ice fishing season.

1)Just ordered my Frabill XLTwin.. should have it before the ice gets here...

2)Need to make a few more walleye rods for ice fishing. MOst of my time is spent chasing crappies and gills, but I really want to expand and fish more eye's

3)Angle eyes.. from what I hear, they are what I need to get! Expecially if I want to fish more eyes!

4)Marcum LX-3... I already have a Vex FL-18 but I really would like to have the LX-3. The variable zoom being the key.

5)More Ice buster bobbers.... man I thought they were a gimic, so i put off buying them for way to long... finally bought 2 of them last year and was amazed. I now only own 4 I think... ohhhhh Santa?

6)MORE TIME ON THE WATER THIS YEAR WITH MY FRIENDS FROM FM!!!!

Well I would have to start with:

1) The winning lottery ticket so I could get everything I wanted.

2) Take some of the extra winnings and buy all of you guys everything on your lists. grin.gif

Too bad I can't afford to buy a lottery ticket!

Good Luck on your lists,

Corey Bechtold

woodsmanmn, Check out Vexilar's website. They sometimes have refurbished units that have been used very little by the Pro's. These are then sold at a greatly reduced price. That's how I got my FL-18. I like it so much that in the summer I don't even take my graph out anymore.

I forgot one!

I have a couple of Thorne Brothers ice rods. A sweet heart, a dead stick, and an older jigging rod. I want another couple of jigging rods and a couple more sweet hearts! If you have never fished with there rods you are missing out! It makes ice fishing so much more fun with good equiptment! It never ceases to amaze me how open water anglers think nothing of spending $150.00 plus for open water rods and reels but balk at spending $30.00 bucks for a good ice rod!

Nice used Otter Resort going on the market soon. Almost new. With cover and hitch. I have not gotten final approval yet for my ad but the ad is paid for, so a shameless plug is in order. Used one season, about a dozen times ($500). Where's the freaking ice!!!!!!!! Need cold, I WISH FOR ABOUT 6 INCHES OF ICE!!!!!

NUMBER ONE AND ONLY ONE

Looking to replace my Eskimo Ice Auger. It has served my needs for the last 16 years and my Dads before that I think he bought it in the 70's sometime... Still works great hard to find the left hand turn serrated blades for it and it dont want to start below 0. Time to retire the ORANGE TORNADO

Just gotta use some common sense and have some ice safety gear.  If I hadn’t duffed the shot on the buck on the last day of rifle season, I’d probably be on the ice this weekend also.  Instead, I’ll still be chasing some vennie.

just seen a report on fartbook the pines resort on winnie had 8-9 inches in the bay.  they did warn any further out the ice has not been checked, like over by the river!!!!!

Looks like Vermilion froze overnight on Monday, which would make it officially frozen Tuesday, December 3.  I am going out to McKinley Park Friday morning to check out the ice conditions and possibly fish.

Looking at the webcams, I don't see any open water. Is Big Bay completely frozen over yet?   The forecast looks like a few inches of snow Sunday/Monday followed by temps below zero.

I'd say lakes under 500 acers less than 40 ft deep. They're targeting panfish. We're making ice everyday. Windy today, terrible roads, lots of people decided that they needed to drive fast and that unfortunately led to some vehicles doing some incidental off roading

Fall was like a month long.  Maybe even less.  I'm quite a bit south of you but I can recall fishing in short sleeves in late October.  Less than a month later, prior to Thanksgiving, winter arrived.   September and most of October were way more like summer than fall.  Kind of too bad, I like fall.

is that 5-6 inches on smaller lakes or ........... bigger water bodies. i'm guessing knowing the lakes i fish or would like to should maybe have more. i will be seeing a former coworker who livws of hwy 6 north of deer river saturday, hoping he's got a good report.   he's a neighbor and good friend to CO Fairbanks so should get some good intel. i know Mike well too!

It's definitely winter, we have about 4-6 inches of fluffy snow on the ground which has predominantly blown off the ice. I have several friends out on the ice as of late 5-6 inches of ice. I work the next two days, will get the gear together Saturday and go Sunday. I'd be completely fine if we have an early spring like earlier this year.
