Does anyone have a good taxidermist that they would recommend? I have a couple of antler mounts that I need done. Checked with one and he wanted $130... Seems kinda high...

braves57-

I would say $130 for an antler mount (just antlers on a board, right?) is severely high. I've got a couple sets that I plan on doing myself this year. I've never done it before so we'll see how it goes.

I was just searching the internet one day and found a bunch of taxidermy supply shops. You can get all the materials for less than $20. One of these days I'll tackle this little project.

Last winter I mounted several racks on plaques.

My cost was a few bucks. But we cut out our own wood and I stained/varnished it myself. The rest of the materials were next to nothing in cost.

I bet I have less than 7 or 8 bucks in materials in each one. Just my time beyond that.

Heck, if you have a bid for $130 for a rack, I'll do it for half!

Thanks guys! I'll try the Forest lake guy I live near there(Mille Lacs is a long haul!) I just have the antlers. I mounted the first one myself and it looks pretty good, but the one I got last year(13-point) looks kinda funny on one of those small boards. It doesn't fit right... I should have done the shoulder mount but I don't have the space. Thanks again!
