Well here I am back to work. We showed up at 4 pm Friday and found out that #22,the house I posted we would be in, had been givin to someone wanting to fish next to people they knew. We ended up in the diamond shack 2nd house on road B. We caught four fish all weekend. I hope they did better in #22. I was a disappointed in the condition of the shack. No shades for the windows and only one rattle reel worked. The heater wasn't enough when the wind was blowing. We still enjoyed the weekend but are wiser after our first trip. See ya when the water is softer.

Niteeye, you are the only person who I have heard of and talked to that caught fish last weekend. we were all over the southeast side that weekend. we stayed in cabin 30, no pleasure palace, but it was better than we stayed last year. spent the whole day friday going deep water, fishing shallow water, in between, and caught absolutely nothing.....the best deal of the weekend was the enormous amount of bait we bought at Johnson's portside, 11 bucks and a couple of those shiners they gave us we 6" long....
I think next year, our group is headed to Lake of the woods or we are just gonna fish the metro area.

Come on pick - we did too catch fish. A 4 inch eelpout, a 3 inch perch and a 1 inch sculpin.

If you plan on eating fish for one of your meals - you better be bringing your own along.

The highlight of the trip was "The Isle Muni" for beer, pizza and a **** fine Juke box. Or when matt rolled out of the top bunk in his sleeping bag.

In all honesty, I think anyone could go to ANY lake and have much better fishing. The trip is a good time - just don't link the success of the trip to catching any fish. It will be tough for me to head back to Mille Lac - there are many other options that are just as fun and involve opportunities to catch fish. I am not picky either - I would have been happy to catch 5 inch perch all day. Or even one or two decent walleye. But 6 guys, 48 hours, fish house, portables and only about 3 ounces of fish - that is pathetic.

wish i had better news, but i and two others spent all of sunday through monday morning in #61. it was fairly shallow there and we only had one bite. the one bite was most likely a big northern. my friend fought it for about 10 minutes before it snapped the line. wish we could've at least saw it!

Hey fellas,

I don't like all this talk about abandoning Millelacs, and no fish caught. I just reserved a 12x50 shack from Dickies for the weekend of Jan.31-Feb.2. Your reports are starting to make me regret that. But the group I will be with would rather catch a buzz that spend time catching fish, so we will probibly have a good time anyways. I am going to bring my portable and at least give fishing a serious shot. So if you know of any hotspots in the area I would sure apprechiate? them. I got a GPS too, if you know coordinates.

Does anybody know how this shack is as far as comfort goes? I want to know who I'm gonna have to send home early for whining.
