ManiacMuskyhunter,

I'm out of Mac's as well and would like to know the answer to your question too. Maybe all of us at Mac's can work together to keep an eye out for one another during the week.

So far we have been very fortunate and not had any thefts yet. My buddy and I have a couple 10 x 16's out of Lybacks and have had no problems (knock on wood). We've had our houses up there for the past five years and haven't been concernd. Mac's is a pretty good resort and you shouldn't worry to much about it. Although it does happen, there's always some "ya-who" that ruins everything.

I have a shack out of Lybac's and would like to know if there are any theft problems out there also. It's really too bad that someone has to worry about there shack being vandalized and broken into when they leave for the day.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention - I would not leave any of your electronics or fishing gear in the permanent houses while your gone for an extended period of time. Just to be safe.

There was a thread about this awhile back. Mille Lacs is pretty safe, provided you take a few precautions. Take everything with you you'd be suprised what people will steal. Leave the door unlocked. Putting up a big lock and chains are invatations for theives. Leave the windows open. often times they'll look inside to see if its worth it. If they can see that you left nothing behind, they won't bother. Mille lacs is safe for the most part although its common to hear a couple cases through out the year.

I definatley think that keeping an eye on other houses is a must.
It would be great to know that when you leave there might be someone keeping an eye on things for you, a little insurance it is always nice. I know mac's is a good place, but I know they can't possibly prevent all theft, really no one can. Every time I'm up there I will do what I can to keep those little (insert word here) from putting a damper on anyones season. when you're next to a big blue house that could use more paint, (never got another coat on, to cold earlier, but maybe i should now that its december!!), stop on by, and if I'm there you'll know I'm keeping an eye out.

But until those big houses go out good fishin.

Anybody going out of Dickie's Portside? It'd be nice if a group of us out of Portside could keep our eyes on everyones shacks.

I am going to macs in about 3 hrs for the weekend. They will only pull us to the bay but it is a start. We have a white 8x16 with skids 3ft longer than the house on one end. Our door has been hit with an ax 20 or 30 times.

I tend to agree with leaving my door unlocked BUT, I am worried that even leaving my air mattresses in the shack would lead to slashed mattresses. I don't know what to do?

I've put a permenent house out on Mille Lacs since 1979, I've been on Garrison Reef, in St. Albans Bay but most of the time on the rock piles and mud out from Myr Mar. I have never had anything stolen, however twice when I came up on Fri. nites from the Cities, my lock was broken off and my holes were open, obviously someone had used my house to fish in. Nothing was taken and they didn't even leave a mess, but it still makes you mad.

I've fished on the big pond for 28 years @ Brandt's and never had our shack broken into, like the other posters say the most important thing is not to leave anything in your house that you'd miss even if your only leaving for a couple of hours.

Thanks, a day well spent with a good person for sure. Thanks again for the work you put in at the end of the trip!  Your fishing needs to get in better shape I think!😓

You and that Senko were dialed in, no doubt about that!  I think if the wind wasn’t as harsh we could’ve explored the deeper water a little better and maybe got the jig bite dialed in on the hens.  Either way it was a fantastic fishing experience. Some day I’ll try a Senko - maybe. 😃   I think you’ll do very well there this weekend.  Thanks again for taking me with.  It was the best day of open water fishing I’ve had for some time, both fishing and partner wise.

Made my wife move to the other side of the boat... Great weight shift!😅  Had to cook my own supper that night. ☹️

Kinda quiet here.  Ive been out a number of times and have had a hard time finding anything consistent for active fish,  crappies or eyes.  Did ok this past weekend but fish were" one here and one there".  Cold front Sat. didn't help.  Looking forward to the weekend with some stable weather and a better bite.

I opened up my by bass fishing season this past weekend with the great company of @Wanderer. The catch numbers were great by most respects.  Size was a little smaller on average than I had hoped, I kinda bragged up this little gem and size fell a bit short. 17 as approx the max size we boated on Sat. Fished seem to be in groups concentrated in certain areas, very scattered in between.  Our best action came fishing away from shore, better fish as well.  Plenty of fish were crusing on the shorelines as well they definitely ran smaller though. Wanderer was able to show me how to work a jig effectively as that has never been a tactic I am proficient at.  Thanks Wanderer.  I tried to show the ease and effectivenss of the Senko.   It all  work well as we probably boated over a hundred fish for the day. Everyone share your 2018 Bass experiences here, keep us in loop of what is working you!

Thanks, James! That weather really put fish on the move. Our focus for the tournament was to get two big bites and catch a pair over 26". We felt like in order to do that we had to go west. We had a milk run of spots that were taking big wind so we just rotated through them during the day. Our fish came from 3'-13' casting jerkbaits, Rippin Raps and swimbaits. My dad had been catching a lot of walleyes on shallow rocks while pre-fishing for the bass tourney which really tipped us off on some locations and presentations. We only caught six walleyes during the tournament but they were the right ones. We feel unbelievably fortunate to have had such an awesome experience!

So so true @Borch!! I am excited to see this grow and read all the reports

Great to see some good information flowing.  I'm looking forward to seeing more good reports and stories from even more of us in the forums and clubs.  Keeping the information flowing in both is essential. Thanks for all you do.

We would like to recognize 4 of our best posters in the forums and the Minnesota Fishing Reports Club. I will be giving each one a special goodie, if they get into the right club soon enough. Special thanks goes to @IceHawk, @Borch, and @monstermoose78 for the contributions leading what will require a persistent high quality effort to make the Fishing Report Club a must stop spot for fishing information. The 4 TOP GUN anglers who have been amazingly consistent since we first opened up the Fishing report club are: @AlwaysFishing23, @ANYFISH2, @Jim Almquist, and @mrpike1973. I'd like you 4 to check the right club out to claim your goodie by next Monday. Yes it will pay to pay attention to what is going on in here. The fishing reports will just keep getting better. Keep your eyes open. More goodies will be given based on different criteria, like best stories in the forums and clubs, best pictures, best videos, and more. We're looking for more Official Fishing Report Team members. If you are interested, message me. Have fun and enjoy the ride.
