Live bait or crank baits?

Going fishing on the pond this saturday but I have not been there for several years. I finally purchased a boat (Pro V 17') that will allow me to enjoy the lake.

Any and all info would be appreciated. Live bait or crank baits? When trolling is there a magic speed to adhere to? Locations would also be appreciated. Depth this time of year?

DGTAYLO,
I was up there last weekend and it was tough. I have some success on running cranks about 7-10 feet or so but the hits were light. It seems as though they were just grabbing on. I think the cold weather has thrown these fish into a loop.
We were running our boat about 1.5-2 mph. We seemed to get the fish when we sped up a little or jerk the rod to break free from the remaining weeds. I think these were all reactionary strikes.
I would key in on areas that have rock and weeds mixed, with more rocks then weeds.
Let me know how you do.
