Moon Phase

How much attention should you pay to the moon phase and night trolling? I would assume that the full moon is the best but is there a drastic difference in the fishing?

In my experience, in the fall, at night... yes. It does make a big difference. That hasn't stopped me from going during other moon phases though. I just consider the full moon and about a 3-4 day window on either side of it to be a "can't miss".

Full moon productivity is hard too say, but usually consistent in october, my neighbor swears by the new moon. So far this fall both have been tough. I think a more reliable indicator is when the water temps get within a certain range roughly 50-60 you can usually have more consistent success getting them to chase cranks. Good luck and give it a shot, after all this fall will likely be the last time you ever can.
