Been a couple of weeks since I have been on the pond(had to go king fishing in alaska, yup it was a rough job, but somebody has to do it) Are both mud and gravel still doing well? Any particulare flats producing. Heard a little about Curlys and 8-mile working ok? Anybody working the needle this year? Been a bit of a struggle finding good numbers of eyes the last month for me. Fathead thanks for your excellent reports, I am sure they will help. If you plan on getting back to the pond soon, give me your email address and I will be happy to let you know how I do.

James

Well fishing on 8/07 was as tough as I have seen this year. Fished NW end mud from 11-7 on 3 mile, Garrisons reef, curlys and Ericksons. Got 1 fish(silver hammered spin/3way) on 3 mile and saw the folks from Garrison sports launch get a few. Nothing at the other spots a few boats were on curlys and 1 was on 8 mile, but I never made it that far in. Evening I trolled weed breakline in Garrison bay and got 1 on a #5 shadrap. Those were our only 2 bites all day. Sorry the news isn't better folks. Maybe time to break out the Muskie gear for a month or so untill fishing picks back up?

Thanks to Wanderer (Tracy) for extracting me from a sticky situation 🤦‍♂️. It was also nice to finally meet you in person!! I think you need to start a weekend towing business lol. I had a buddy of mine and his dad come out and check and make sure I was okay after you left. Fishing was pretty good I got 8 gills all around 8” and 1 crappie 9”. Dad came out and got 5 gills. We stayed till 6:15pm and I was able to make it off the lake no problem.

Cliff and Byron are planning a Kids ice fishing day February 12. The event is out of Fortune bay Marina  9-1. The event is for Tower and Nett lake kids. I know Cliff is looking for a few helpers.

Cuz that’s just me.  🙂  I just like tinkering and seeing what I can get away with - and learn about things.   Just got done with a fine hone stone and got out some small nicks I’m pretty sure I got from cutting dirty ice in ND.  I’ll find out tomorrow how I did.

Like @eyeguy 54 says, Frank has been the go-to guy for members of this site for years.  He does it by mail and is in Saginaw, MN.   It’s interesting that you ask about re-shaping also.  I know Frank has the Nils jig and the drill blades are curved.  I was considering tuning up my own today before they get too dull but am concerned about maintaining the shape of the curve. Since I was a machinist in a former life, I’m still gonna try it.  Then maybe send to Frank. 😀
