Any Nice Campgrounds on Mille Lacs?

Hi gang,

Was wondering if any of you know if there is a nice campground around the big pond? I am looking for something that's somewhat secluded that has nice bathroom facilities(bringing the wife along).

Just up the shore from the casino is North Star Resort. It's on the south side of Wigwam Bay. It is primarily a campground and has a newer bathroom facility that is very nice (all ceramic tile!).

There are a variety of campsites, some secluded and some not. The secluded ones are set back in the trees and are mosquito havens. I only tried them once. The other sites are pretty much in the open and there are people around you, but if there's a breeze, you'll get it and the bugs are kept away accordingly. I have found that the campground is generally quiet at night...a nice family place.

They also have slips for rent for your boat. The launch is rather steep, so, if you generally have a touch and go time at the boat ramp, you may have some trouble at this one if the concrete is wet.

I don't have the number, but you can look on the internet yellow pages for resorts in Onamia. Ask for Pat and tell her she should advertise on this site.

If you're going up during the week you should be able to get into the Father Hennipen State Park outside of Isle. Park is right on the lake. Has a good boat launch,beach and there are some sites in the Maple Grove camp that are private.
