Vikings 2004 Season Record?

namtkd1

Recommended Posts

I am getting excited for this Purple Pride season! I usually careless about how the Vikings do and just enjoy watching them play every game. But I thought I would ask anyway, now that we have a good defense and overall sound hopefully consistent offense...

How will the Vikes finish this season? I say 11-5 and NFC Championship, but I am not doubting a SuperBowl appearance.

I say 10-6 and out after the first round. The Defence will be better but not that much this year. Maybe next year they will go deep into the play-offs.

I'm going with 11-5. I see them in the superbowl. However it's less than 50:50 they would win there.

Based on last years finish, and the total team history, I think a 9-7 would be a good year. The offense has the talent, but has shown in the past to not have the desire. Every year they seem to "play down" to the level of the opponants and choke away a game or two. The defense IMHO still lacks playmakers and will be lucky to finish in the middle of the pack.

They (Star Tribune) said the third year with Tice is the charm...

First year w/ Tice: 6-10
Second year w/ Tice: 9-7 (missed playoffs)
Third year w/ Tice: ???

Hopefully, we go all the way...

I say 11-5. Road wins against Philly, GB, Indy and even Chicago and Detroilet will be tough to come by. And there's also a good home opener against Dallas, and the Vikes always have that "Doh!" game, where all of us wake up the next day scratching our heads. (See Giants, Detroilet and AZ games from last year) I think the main question marks for this year is at linebacker(s) and also on pass rush. I'm curious if Hovan can rebound...K Williams is a stud, but cannot do it all alone inside. My defensive sleeper this year is Steve Martin. He may be our next Jerry Ball.

I agree NO CHEESEHEADS!!!!!!! I hate them as well. Unfortunately between the two games with you two I think they will win both, so their record will be 2-14.

I've got $1,000 bucks that says I can predict the Vikings record right now, before the season ever starts.

I am old enough to know when there was NO Pro-Football team in Minnesota. I think that we all cheered for the Pack then. In the Central Division, you never know who will win the game on Sunday!! I am a true Purple and Gold FAN. I am always opptimistic about the Vikes chances. This year, I do believe we are looking at a team that can compete with the Big Boys.

Eyecrosser, thats easy. Before the season starts::: 0-0. Save your money for bets in the boat.

I should have known better!!! The readers of this forum are much too savvy to deceive with a simple trick like that.

Honestly, I say the Vikes go 10-6 because of their brutal schedule. Too many questions on the defensive side of the ball and Linehan and Tice don't have complete confidence in Daunte to "turn him loose". 3 of their 6 losses will be attributed to playing "not to lose" just like the Chicago and Arizona games last year.

If they make the playoffs they could be dangerous because of the competitive schedule--if everyone isn't banged up too badly.

I'll take a repeat of the start last year. So that's 6-0 and then I guess I'll settle for .500 ball the rest of the season. 11-5 North division title, and I'm thinking a bye along with Philly. Followed by the Vikings first trip to the Super Bowl in my lifetime.

Vikes will start out strong, fall apart and Randy Moss will create a big media circus. Record 9-7

Funny stuff guys! I'm a Vike's fan and I anticipate an 11-5 record, no playoff predictions until I see how were playing heading in. I believe this may be our buddy Brett Favres last year next door so I hope the "greatest fans in the history of the universe/galaxy" can enjoy his last games.. too bad it won't happen in the dome! You guys did know that Packer fans are the Worlds undeniable best right? just ask them and they'll tell you. Heres a joke many of you probably have heard... it bears repeating.
How many Packer fans does it take to change a lightbulb???
Three, one to change the bulb and two to talk about how good the old one was!

We are the Vikings (we are the vikings) The Mighty Mighty Vikings (the mighty mighty vikings) OOH, AHH, OH YEA'AH, OOH, AHH, HERE WE GO!!!

  • 4 weeks later...

12-4, win the division and play in the NFC championship game. They will win in OT on a MORTON Anderson field goal and Viking fans will have our 1st superbowl win to make up for the Drew Person push off year that would have won it for us.

10-6, at least one playoff win, Super Bowl victory possible, but doubtful. I think Tice is an alright coach, but I don't know that he's that good.

I must be too used to the Vikings of the rest of my life. They always get talked up and come up short of what everyone expects. Once again I think they'll find a way to screw it up. 10-6 and out in the first round of the playoffs. Just thinking of Tommy Kramer, Wade Wilson, Jerry Burns, Denny Green, etc.

Daunte will rip it up this year leage MVP. Vikes will be at least 12-4. Playoffs who knows probably Super Bowl champions. If the Vikes had there current 55 year old kicker last year I think we would have won 4 more games.

Farve will retire, Lambau will be turned back into a John Deere Dealership, Packers will move to LA. Packer fans will still be boasting that they will win the Super Bowl every year without knowing that they have been watching the ice bowl over and over for several seasons confused.gif

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
