Eli Manning

Is Eli Manning going to be worth the draft day shinanagans? Personally, I'd like to see Ray Lewis give him a nice hard "welcome to the NFL".

I don't think Eli will even play much this season. Kurt Warner will be taking the snaps for the G-men this season to give Eli a year to learn the game at this level.

Not sure if they even play the Ravens this season but I'm sure there are some linebackers for the Redskins/Eagles/Cowboys that would love to welcome both Warner and Manning to the NFC East.

....Best case senario: Warner finally gives up and admits he was a one year hero, retires which puts Eli in the drivers seat. Then the entire offensive line goes out for drinks and ends up getting in a big bar fight only to get suspended from the NFL for two weeks. Right around week 14 when they play the Ravens.

Honestly, who other than Eli gets to pick which team they go to in the draft? What a *****!!

Yes, I agree. What a baby. He should be thankful that he has reached a playing level where most of us can only dream about. I would not feel bad to see a career-ending injury come his way. Ok, that was a little harsh. A concussion in game 1 would be a nice welcome.

The look on his face when the Chargers drafted him was priceless. I thought he was going to throw up.

Come on you guy's. Give the kid a chance. He hasn't even been on the field yet. I will say though that I sense that if he has to go through what his poor dad went through in N.O. when he came out, I think he will fold.

I think playing in New York is punishment enough. Those sports writers and media will be brutal on him.

They also had problems with their line last year and had to throw some rookies to the fire. They lost a couple starters on the line to free agency and brought some new guys in. It may take a while for the line to gel. I would hate to be quarterback. Warner is not exactly mobil either, but I hope he succeeds. He seems like a real good guy.

Is Kurt Warner going to be taking the snaps or will it be his wife? Maybe the two of them can get Eli to do some televangelist broadcasts with them.

I hope Kurt sat down with his wife and told her not to comment on his career. Especially in New York. I imagine there are plenty of people baiting her in New York.

I don't understand why he even wanted to go to New York in the 1st place. He really doesn't have much to throw to and there running game isn't that great either. When you add the New York media to the equation then there is no way I would want to play there. At least in San Diego he would get a stud RB to take off some of the pressure.

I hope he falls and chips a tooth!!!

What a friken baby, I can't stand him and I hope anybody drives him into the ground!!

And of course like said before, the NEw Yrok media will eat him up alive when he flops.

Daddy wanted him to go there because they have a big "O" line to protect him, San Diego did not.
Since when did rookies get so many options? I think when you get drafted you should play for the leauge minimum FOR THE TEAM THAT DRAFTED YOU no matter what you did in college. Who is this rookie TE I hear about who turned down the biggest salary any TE has ever been offered? And something about he won't buy a number from the team? The leauge should take a stand sometime. Cut down on rookie salary, celebrations, unruly players (T.
O., Keyshawn), drug/drunk driving problems. I feel sorry for the Ditka's, Butkis's, Brown's, and Bradshaw's (maybe not the Bradshaw's) that saw this leauge go from a respectable leauge to a drug rehab program full of overpaid show-offs who still think they deserve better. I can't believe 2 of the top 5 running backs from last year are both going through drug related suspensions. Even though one will appeal untill it's convienent for him to not play, and the other just plain retired for a year.
Sorry about the rant, it's just if I see one more celebration for a first down, I'm going to shoot my t.v. Joe Horn: next time you score a TD and you feel the need to call someone on your cell, give me a ring. I'll tell you how stupid you look.

I dont want football to become the next WWF

I have read that Warner is looking pretty crappy for the G-Men right now, and that they are wondering if his oft-injured throwing hand is STILL bothering him. Warner will start the season if he is not hurt by then. By game 3 Warner will be hurt for sure and Eli will be thrown into the fire. For the way he and his family acted about being drafted by the Chargers, he better play well pretty quick or the NY media will eat him alive. Which would serve him right I guess. Eli - be careful what you wish for.

I hate this kid too guys. How can a rookie be such a baby and demand so much money? He's not that good and will probably fall flat on his face after all of this B.S.
Would serve him right take a few to the chin. Other players in the NFL know what went on and don't think they won't be gunning for him.

Remember though that there was a guy who pulled this same exact stunt when he was drafted and I saw him on TV quite a bit this weekend live from Canton, Ohio. What does everyone think of John Elway now???

Very True,

But it doesn't change the fact that these kids coming out of College are getting WAY TOO MUCH $$$$ for never playing a down in the NFL. I figure they should have a mandatory 1 year contract at the rookie minimum (although they have a multi-year contract with the team) Then, if they've proven they are worth it the team can work with them on a large contract. I mean come on, Winslow isn't signing because he wants more.........even though he was offered the Largest contract ever for a TE.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
