Birch Lake

Recommended Posts

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get to the access on Birch Lake, northwest of Elk River on Cty. Rd. 15? Thanks

Head north off highway 10 on 15. Take a right on 223rd Ave (it's the first right after you cross the highway 83 junction. Follow that road a short way and you'll see the Launch.

Sorry if these directions aren't very good...it's kinda hard to explain. Another option is to look at the Recreation Compass on the DNR's website.

Hope this helps.

ndevr,
Thanks a bunch, I will go check it out as soon as I can. I did check the DNR website and they didn't have a specific road off of 15, thanks again for the directions.

I tried this lake once last winter. only caught small crappies and a few bullheads. Although there is supposed to be some walleye's there. On my way out I talked to a fisherman to see how the fishing was going. he showed me a bucket full of 6-8" crappies. Some people will keep anything! hopefully you do better than we did! GOOD LUCK!

Bullheads in the winter?
I was taught they hibernate, deep in the mud, during the winter...can't keep 'em off during summer!

birch lake is good for small crappie and gills, once and not to often there is a walleye caught, and it usually is nice size. birch lake is a nice quite lake, but fishing is not to great. there are much better lakes in the area to try.

Knoppers and Wheels,
Thanks for the info. My parents live down the road on 15 and I was just wondering about the lake in case I ever wanted to try something different. Checked out the landing today just to see where it is(directions were very good ndevr) after I hit Ida and dropped the boat off earlier today. Not much happening on Ida 4 northerns and a bass. Pretty slow and windy.
