Maple Reports

Anyone been on Maple lately. Looking for info. on what the weeds are like for starters. Are they thick in all the way to the shoreline? Also, how is the bass, northern and walleye bite? Any areas producing better fish?

I haven't been on Maple since hard water, so hopefully you'll get a more recent update from somebody else on this...

I'd take a look at the NW edge of the point in the narrows for eyes. For bass I'd concentrate on the deep shorelines outside and inside weed edges... pike should be along the outside weed edges for the most part... for a mixed bag, I'd fish the outside weed edge as your likely to find the walleye hanging on the weed edges this time of year as well.. good luck and let us know how you do!

All in all had a good night on Maple last night. We caught a dozen bass (the biggest being 18") and 5 northern. We were there for a league and everybody had at least 4 fish to measure. The team that won had a 20, two 19's, three 16's and five from 12-14. They took the pot cause they had the pigs. Oh well what a beautiful night for fishing. We caught most of our fish just east of the access and swimming beach on that turn using spinnerbaits. Also picked up a couple on the 20' hump out from that high banks area. Don't know where the pigs came from or where they were last night. Guessing from by the weed choked bay to the left of the access. They are there though so someone needs to find 'em. Good fishing.

thanks for the report... sounds like a good night. so what was the winning weight? sounds like around 15-16 lbs./5 fish?

We actually base points on length and allow up to a legal limit for any individual species (6/person so 12/boat for bass and so on). I measured the winning team's fish and the 20 probably went 5 lbs. the 19's were 4.5 lbs and the 16's were 2.5-3 lbs. Would have made a good bag to weigh in in any tournament.
