Clearwater Walleyes

Recommended Posts

Anyone been out walleye fishing on Clearwater yet? I am thinking about going out on Thursday. Any advice on what they are biting on would be appreciated. From what I have been reading, the eyes are hitting different things on different lakes. Shiners were the bait of choice for our group this weekend, but I've heard some people talking up leeches.

Ice: I fished leaches on Monday night and Tuesday morning for walleye, and had little luck. Was very (nicely) surprised by the clarity of the water on Clearwater. Saw tons of schooling crappies, bass and sunnies. A couple of nice Northerns too. Unfortunately, the bite on leaches was light. Had some luck with flatheads, tailhooked for max movement.

PS: Let me know how you do.

TIGHT LINES!

Thanks for the info, I'll let you know how I do if I get out.

If the water is clearing up, try small suckers trolled on a spinner. Concentrate on 10 to 20 ft depths and be off the lake after the sun comes up high enough to see the fish swimming around below you.

This time of year in clear water it is very difficult to find active fish during the day.
